OK, new to the world of Arma 2 but it looks great, is it worth getting the original 2 or should I go for Op Arrowhead, or even hang on for Combined Ops (on disc)?

Arrowhead has more toys like FLIR, bit more advanced equipment overall I think. Havne't had hands on though, so not the best person to advice on this.

Does raise a question though: is all the new stuff available in ArmaII? Or is at least all the old stuff caried over into Arrowhead?

IIRC, Arrowhead works like the CoH expansions i.e. old game gets the new toys aswell.

That's how it should go, or more like all the old stuff is "imported" into Arrowhead. Remember that with the engine everything is "mods", packed in .pbos, which the game loads when it starts. You could even remove all the original .pbos and it'd still run. I still don't have Arrowhead thanks to the great summer weather we have(no time for gaming) so I can't say for sure, but that's my impression from reading BIS forums.

Anyone new to the series should go for Combined Ops, as it has all the content published so far(Arma2+Arrowhead).

On topic however, I've just completed Harvest Red, I'd say it took me ages but tbh I've never really tried before lol, but just felt like playing through it the other day. Buggy as hell, but enjoyable none the less. Now to give OA a go.

Just purchased Combined Operations last night and am loving every minute. Always loved Operation Flashpoint but was severely disappointed with ArmA I and its bugginess. This is turning out to be a much better experience apart from some minor performance issues. Hope to get on MP some time soon.

OK, I've discovered my boss bought Arma 2 and only played it for ten minutes before giving up (he's more of a 'roll a 56 to continue' fantasy player) so he's giving it to me and then I'll just get OA later.
