My favourite of his would have to be the 11th Symphony "The Year 1905". The recordings of Shostakovich by the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra conducted by Neeme Jarvi under the Deutsche Grammophon label are all fantastic.

Hard for me to select one out right as my top one's would be 5th,7th and the 10th Symphony's. Is this true the 8th Symphony was to be titled as the Stalingrad Symphony?
