With airliners you wait to see a positive climb ( height on th rad alt increasing as the aerial is behind the main gear )and then ask for gear up.With the 'bus doors open the gear shortens on some of them and then the doors close again by which time you are just under 1000ft.On the Trident the nose gear was off centre and retracted sideways!!
