My sleeves were rolled up tightly so I didn't get any of that. Most of mine ended up hitting me in the face and then finding their way down the back of my blouse collar, especially when I was shooting from the prone position. I may have scars from that, but I wouldn't know because they're on my upper back, which I can't see.

What really sucked was when I had my M-249. That biatch would shower so many casings on my right arm that even the sleeves of my utilities couldn't keep the burns out. Reloading it quickly was also a pain in the ass, as was changing the barrel, but I got it down.

I recall that the BDU's had cuff solid plackets probably for that exact reason. The old OD fatigue sleeves that I wore were split halfway down the forearm and they were like a brass magnet when I shot left handed.

I bet they put him into one of these reeducation camps which this Obama guy built.
I heard one is called Leftanamo Bay. They do sick things with the people there, like feeding the people with left chickenwings and the only thing those poor people get to read is the Bill of Lefts...

Thank goodness for the MARPAT and digi utility uniforms, then. I don't know what kind of KD course the army shoots, but having an open placket would have totally ruined my day at the range, especially with the stance I use in the kneeling stage of fire. I don't even want to think about what it would have been like in combat, or while using an LMG.

Hey, I didn't come up with the name, k? In the Corps, the shirt for the utility uniform is called a blouse. A hat is called a cover. The pants are called "trousers". A helmet is a "kevlar". Referring to any one of these items by any other name is actually a punishable offense.

But we're getting off-track here.

Hey I'm a lefty too, and I object to paying premiums for "specially" manufactured products for lefthanders.

On the issue of shooting:
Having never handled a rifle before the army, it was quite easy for me to shoot it with the right hand, as I didn't learn it any other way, so no burn marks from ejected shell casings for me.

I think the notion that the left hand is the "bad" hand comes from the ambiguity of the latin word sinistrum, or rather it's change of meaning from left in latin to malign in English or German. Even today when somebody tries to take advantage of you, it's said "Er dreht eine Linke", "Linke" stands for a fraud in this case, if somebody behaves/moves "linkisch" he's clumsy or inept.

I'm just glad I wasn't born in a time where lefties were forced to do it the "right" way, with tying their left arm behind their backs.

LEFTIES UNITE!!! <--- that smilie should be available the other way round.

I am a righty but I shoot rifles lefty and yes it is a pain.. literally.

My left eye is considerably more dominant than my right eye, but the common military rifles are made for rightys

The only thing I can't do with my left is write, but drink and shoot with both.

Can't really comment on jimi, perhaps a special dispensation could be posthumously awarded? We are not ungrateful of his greater contribution and his exemplary endeavour, in overcoming his obvious disability.
