My question is though which is the more real? I mean if I were to be sailing in the atlantic on a nice clear day, what would the color up top be? As far as I know underneath its a murky green, but up top it could be blue

Atalntic ocean color it is complicate ... but i saw him near Florida, near Cuba and near Canada - all the time was blue

Most of the picture with atlantic that i saw on the net have an blue color for the water

So - i would say that Atlantic water color at surface is more blue then green (my opinion only - maybe i am mistaken) - my mod change the water color at surface only - for the green underwater i think the north atlantic
green mod is awsome

But you Casey i understood you are enlisted in US navy - i supose you saw the atlantic manny times - you must have a more clear ideea how the water is for real
cheers

It's very different, depends on weather and location.
I made these pictures during my time in the navy.

Biscaya

Atlantic - near Acores

North Atlantic - Nova Scotia Area

Atlantic - near Brest

North Atlantic - Near Iceland

nice photos - i tryied to make the blue water to change by weather , climates zones in my mod using like the color for base start an ARGB cold blue in my mod but i did not used the blue-greenrgb that you posted in some photos - so, when is storm the water become like an green-blue color as i heard?
