Just found out the disadvantage of drinking water. When you're so far off that you really need it, you can't keep it in.

just had a huge drinking night. More beer and Jägermeister than I can remember, add in a couple of cigarettes, some weed and an empty stomach, and you've got an idea of how I feel right now.

Which makes me remember the number one medicine against drunkenness. People. If it weren't for some other guys, I would have probably fallen asleep and frozen to death somewhere out on the streets. I know I would be feeling a whole lot worse now if I had been alone last night (then again, if I had been alone I wouldn't have drunk so much)

Think I owe one or two guys a couple of beers

Eat lots of garlic, and toasted sandwiches with oriental spices, and buckles with a few beers,

I'm having a rather big dilemma at the moment. I'm hungry as hell and I really need some food, but I'm not quite sure my stomach agrees with that

Well don't go eating none of that hideous pickled herring I used to see being consumed in Dordrecht market on a Saturday morning

Nah I've made it a large traditional meal of
snert (Dutch pea soup) with rookworst (smoked sausage). Was only just able to keep it all inside but it worked and I'm slowly starting to feel better

Also, what's wrong with herring? It's the best food on earth! (though I prefer it raw as in another Dutch tradition)

As finishing touch, god created the Dutch. To show us his caring, he made us herring

I'll never forget my first ever Friday lunchtime in the works canteen (VAF Instruments, Dordrecht)....everyone was eating some kind of herring, raw/pickled etc.

In waltzed jimbuna and asked for a fried fish....he then promptly placed it inside a large white bread bun....there was a few raised eyebrows in the canteen that day

Is the incident recorded on a surveillance camera, in this case, I look forward to a happy playback,

My strategy is to drink at least 32 fl oz of water before I bed down, along with two slices of bread to absorb excess stomch acid. I am still a little slow in the morning, but I don't have the stomach trouble or headaches.

Could well be Gerald....there were cameras in many areas because of the nature of the work but I'm not sure if there were any in the canteen.

Speaking of hangovers... yesterday morning was painful. I actually woke up on the floor next to my bed, which was NOT precisely where I had started my slumber. How does one fall out of bed and not be woken up?

Hangover remedy was 800mg of ibuprofen with two glasses of water, a can of baked beans, and half a pot of coffee before siesta. The nap really did the trick.

I remember making a couple of posts around the boards that night before, and if they contained a slew of ranting vulgar language please accept my apologies. At least one was cleaned up considerably before I posted it. I hope I showed the same consideration with the rest.

Nah. We've had plenty of drunken ranters on these boards over the years, but I've never seen you as one of them. Speaking generally, drinking and posting are a bad mix; I have seen a lot of people do a lot of harm to their reputation over the years by typing things that they would not have if they were sober.

I have often done the water, but the bread is a new one to me. Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give it a try.

Well that's a relief. I remember being on topic and non-aggressive; just the volume of asterisks that I faintly remember is what bothered me. I must have managed to clean them up.

Never a dull moment.
