I voted for the UK...however the US has one major trump card...the WMD of rock music one could say:

Er, you're asking which country produces X where X is an American genre (I had to look up "classic rock" on Wikipedia to figure that out). So I'm guessing the answer is... America! Or it could be 42.

Nope, the question is which country produces the BEST rock. Rock might be American in origin, but the best classic rock is clearly British

Classic Rock only becomes so as the tide of time passes by, I wonder how much 'modern' rock will stand?

Although I put UK, I do really like a bit of Focus to run to, but they are only a short ferry ride away...

And onelifecrisis got it right with the answer to life, the universe and everything - 42 years ago, Led Zeppelin performed for the first time as The New Yardbirds, Dave Gilmore joined Pink Floyd (thank goodness!), The Beatles released "The White Album", Yes/Deep Purple/Cream formed, as did Black Sabbath (as Earth).

As for 'Classic' rock, many years ago I worked at a warehouse in which a different employee got to choose the radio station every day. When one of the younger workers complained about always listening to 'Classic Rock' I said "Let's do a test. Point to one song you love to listen to that forty years from now you will be able to show to a youngster then and say 'Now that was great music.'"

He walked away.
