I've noticed that they adjusted the hydrophone al little bit.
Now it shows ship types, although the type lasts on the screen only for one degree (200° -> Merchant, 201° -> blank field), so when the enemy ship is not in front of your sub and it's not moving in your same direction, you have to be Flash to read it.

For the devs: since are you fixing something, why don't you fully fix it?

That is fixed. It used to not display anything at all. Use the mouse wheel for slower control of the wheel so it's easier to stop on whatever bearing your contact is on.

I'm using the mouse wheel, the speed (or the precision) is not a problem. The problem is that when (for example) i'm on 60° and i hear the sound of an enemy engine, on the upper left corner of the screen the type of the ship is shown correctly, but after 2-3 seconds i can only hear the sound and the type is gone. So, i have to move to 61° to see it again, and again for 2-3 seconds than i have to move to 62°. That's not a big problem, obviously i still remenber the type of the ship i'm tracking, but in SH4 the type remains on the screen until the sound is gone too.
