May well be upgrading to a new system altogether, but will at the very least be upgrading the RAM on my current system, and winging in a new graphics card.

I'm on the tail end of completing my first build, so I don't think I'll be upgrading anytime soon...except for new GPU's when Fermi is released..

Antec 900
Antec Truepower New 750 blue
Gigabyte GA-M750SLI-DS4
AMD Phenom II X4 940BE
8GB GSkill DDR2 1066
2 x XFX 9800 GT 512
3 x various Seagate HDD
Triple boot OS: Xp, Vista 64 and Win 7 64
X-Fi Titanium sound
Samsung 2343 BWX hi-res monitor
After market Zalman cooling on GPU's, CPU

I think I'm all set, whew!

I chose the upgrading-option. But not specifically and only my hard drive. But that way I will at least be able to install the game and download future mods without having to uninstall SH4 (as I had to uninstall SH3+GWX because of the latter).

Ok so last night I ran an HD Tune test on the current HD and compared the benchmarks to the new caviar 750 black.
Frackin impressive! New drive is about twice as fast. Might even reinstall III to fart around untill V on 7.

just curious why you went with two 512mb ddr3 DX10 NVIDIA 9800's when its better (im told) and cheaper to have one 1gb ddr3 DX10 NVIDIA 9800

im just wondering, since the 1gb and the 512mb 9800 cards are only $5.00 difference in price, and i know you dont have to run SLI just because you have an SLI board, so why did you get two small cards instead on just one big one?

if you dont have a good answer then please dont take this the wrong way because im not trying to make a point here im just trying to understand why you made that choice and the reason behind it.

i am building one for my nefew and i will be using the AMD 920 and a single 1gb 5770 ddr5 DX11 card

Another thing is that 2x 512MB cards doesn't give you 1GB VRAM.

My question would be "why not get 2x 1GB cards?"

Short-sighted poll, you should've included a "No, I don't plan to upgrade my PC".

So, that's me. If I'm correct, my PC will be able to stand SH5 with no major problems (or no problems at all), so I don't need to make any upgrades. Anyways, I've got 3 months (or more, if it delays, again, in Spain), so maybe in the end, I do a little tweak here and there, for other stuff I'd want to run better.

Cheers

no upgrading for me either, ain't got the money for it
luckily i've got a pretty good laptop (for a laptop, that is), it can play MW2 at medium settings so with a bit of luck SH5 will work too

Good luck with that. MW2 is so well optimised it would run on a graphing caculator. It's also a very linear game which significantly cuts down on processor usage, since there isn't a lot of background information to deal with.
Try running GTAIV or Crysis, they'd give you a better idea of how an open world game like SHV will run.

Looking to order this:

Quad-core Q9650 3.00GHz
4GB Corsair XMS Dual-DDR2 800MHz
1 x 250GB Hard drive
1 x 500GB Hard drive
1GB Nvidia Geforce GTS250

Will probably be going with Windows 7 on the mother.

Is this enough to run SHV?

14 core AMD 650 Ghz CPU (60GB L1 cache)
960GB Ram - 8x 120GB of DDR6 (150 Ghz FSB)
3x 200 TB 1000,000 RPM SCSI Hardrive in Raid 5
4x PCI-E3 Geforce 12375 GTX ultra quad GPU & 80GB TB VRAM in super duper SLI turbo mode
1000,050 Kilo watt Nuclear PSU

Do i need to uprade

I take it SHV isn't going to be DX11 then?

That may be worth a new GPU if it is.

I have a 4870 that does just fine for now - these can be got at bargain prices now (or even 4890 1gb) considering a few months ago they were top banana!
