Bummer BasilY. But that's a very impressive tonnage total you've accumulated! And #28 sounds like a real doozy of a mission if you bagged two battleships in one cruise! I'll have to work hard to try and match that in my remaining years!

Thank you, that was all luck, the task force was passing streight in front of me. I am able to close to within 3000m stb going "ahead slow" with excelent angle at the battleships. The escorts, being where they are, did not detect me until the first impact. Then the 7 escorts dangle with me for 2 hours (real time), now that, is another type of fun entirely.

They are the first battleships I sunk in 4 careers. I saw Barham once in a previous career but fail to sink her.

The next patrol isn't as lucky though, the war ended for the crew of U-65 3 days ahead of schedule.

By the way, for tonnage, you can't go wrong with a type IX (despite my ealier reservations about underwater speed and survivability) off the US coast, as soon as you master the the art of evading/fighting DD's, you will be on your way to glory. I made my tonnage hitting the Caracas-New York route (tanker alley with deep water, a bit off the coast). Make full use of the milk cows when available.

In my current career in the Mediteranean, my entire patrol don't add up to what I got with 3~4 torps off Florida.

Encounter Major British battleship squadron south of Crete, consists of battleships KG5, Nelson, Rodney, 6-7 Dido class light cruisers, and 4 destroyers. Heading ESE at 16 kts, Possible Destination: Port Said.

Engage TF at 0815 hours. 3 destroyers sunk, 1 hit on battleship Nelson between turret 1 and 2, damage appeared minor. Fired 3 shot at KG5, 2 missed, 1 dud.

Attack parascope destroyed, damage otherwise minor. Will continue patrol with two remaining torpedos.

(BTW, how do I call the Goring Boys while I am underwater, will love to have them soften up the battleships for me a bit.)

Oberleutnant z. s. Meduza, Aug. 5th, 1940, in command of a Type VIIB U-46, currently assigned to 2nd Flotilla.

Completed 9 patrols, sunk
312658 total (32440 warship), plus ~40000 at my current patrol in grid BF14, where I'm currently positioning myself for a 3rd attack on a large convoy heading 247.

After this patrol, I'm getting a brand new Type IXB
