I'm glad to see I'm not the only one a little confused about the reinstall GWX cfg. Can someone connect the dots for us?:hmm:

See this thread http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=133120 The download is available in the second post. These are the files that are installed in the SH3 Commander Cfg folder replacing the ones already in there to make SH3 Commander work with GWX's changes. As I recall there are 4 files that are replaced including the ships name one, which now does not need to be replaced.

Thats an older download link, the randomized events cfg. in that download is dated 2/5/2007, the latest one is dated 12/30/2007. I`m not sure what the difference in the two files are? The rest have the latest dates. Puts

This was the exact file I downloaded from GWX site, still in .RAR format. All I did was upload it on FF for flakmonkey who was having a problem with the GWX links.

Also Danlisa said:

Both dedicated links still work, I've just tested them. However, every FF link for the main GWX 2.0 files also contain the Commander Configs.
Hope this helps.

No. I know about SH3, but I can't seem to take screenshots from the Personel File or Crew List pages; that is, from SH3 Commander itself. I tried Alt+PrtScrn, but I can't find them anywhere.

Hi Von Stauber,

I've seen this error when trying to click on a carreer in the main menu of SH3cmd.

my problem was that there was a space in my carreername. I solved it by exiting the program and went to my personal files in my documents and renamed the carreerfolder name (removing the space)

renamed documents\personal files\gwx20\carreers\Milco 2 to documents\personal files\gwx20\carreers\Milco2

This solved the problem for me.

Kind regards,

milco

That's fine - the only changes in the newer Randomised events.cfg file relate to supporting pre-Sep 1939 career starts....which don't apply to GWX 2.0.

Don't look for them anywhere - Alt-PrtScn merely copies to memory. Once pressed, all you need do is open the graphics editor of your choice and paste from the clipboard.

If you also use GWX2.0 and SH#CMDR, you need to use 4 files in SH3CMDR that are different than the ones supplied in the GWX2.0 install. These files are available where you got the GWX2.0 files, BUT THEY GO INTO THE SH3cmdr FOLDER AND OVER WRITE THE FILES IN THE CMDR FOLDER, as directed in the instructions. JSCones states that it is not necessary to overwrite the shipnames.config file, so only three files need to be overwritten.

Okay, I used Paintshop Pro 7, and didn't realise I had to have it open while I did the capture. Thanks for the help.

OK, I'm not sure if I can make this any clearer, but here goes...

If at any time in the past you have had to install different versions of any SH3Cmdr cfg files, and I know this is a requirement for GWX and NYGM, then you will need to reinstall them again after you reinstall SH3Cmdr.

This includes any cfg files that you have tweaked to suit your gameplay.

The reason is quite simple:
- when you uninstall SH3Cmdr, all core files are deleted, as they should be (otherwise it's a pretty half arsed uninstaller).
- when you reinstall SH3Cmdr, all core files are replaced by the versions that ship with SH3Cmdr, as they should be (again, a pretty half arsed installer otherwise).

So, you need to replace the SH3Cmdr versions again with the ones provided by GWX, NYGM etc.

When replacing them, ignore any date differences. The files provided by GWX and NYGM, while being older, work just the same with SH3Cmdr R3.0. The changes in the newer SH3Cmdr files are simply to support earlier career start dates, which do not apply to either NYGM or GWX at this time.

To reinstall the files, simply consult the original mod (GWX, NYGM etc) documentation and do again exactly what you did when you first installed the mod.

It makes the ships go faster? :hmm:
