In between hilarity and discussion about masturbation .. let me join in. I have just downloaded and installed the broken crescent mod and I am going to give MTW2 another spin. So far it has mostly collected dust on the shelf, because I decided to give it at least a year until the first really good mods are there. I guess now is the time.
Has anybody else got some experience with this mod? It lets you play 17 middle eastern factions on a completely new map of the orient, including The KOJ, the Mongols, the Seldjuks etc. Another question conc. CA. Whats with their patching? Some time ago I downloaded the 500+ MB version 1.2 (and no I did not bother to download 1.3). No as if the ridiculous size is not enough trouble, the installation took like 20 minutes. Wtf? I don't mind if they use some whacky diff algorithm, as long as it gets the job done done .. but 20 minutes is just crazy if xcopying the files takes no more than 1-2 minutes right? These are the major gripes so far. I will start a campaign and hopefully let you know. One positive thing I can already say is that the graphics run pretty slick on my AthlonXP.

German phrase: "Don't buy a whole cow when you only need a litre of milk". so much for matrimony ![]() PS: I see a lot of people still use the retarded green arrows for the selected unit. You know that you can disable this in the .preference file right? It was one of the first fixes I applied when RTW had come out. All you have to do is make this change in medieval2.preference.cfg : disable_arrow_markers = 1 And one more question from me: Have there been any major AI improvements in 1.3 compared to 1.2? I am still not sure when to download the patch.

I'm running 1.3 on my game. It has seemed to make the the calvalry charge better, and fixed some AI issues.

![]() ![]() Hear me people of the Julii! our Generals are doing great! Our brave soldiers have taken over the village of Iuvavo and droven the Gauls away from the north. The cowardly Gauls attacked the City of Mediolanio with 3300 men, our General north of Patavio rushed with 1500 men to aid the city which garrisoned 1200 men. the battle was a massacre for the gauls. but bad news , the Britons declared war upon us by attack the village of Iuvavo they want war! they are going to have one! Also our general has taken back the city of masalia! good days will come for our people! ... like said I've been busy, first I had to take over the village of Iuvavo, the senate rewarded me 1000 dinarii for it..(cheapskates) it was easy pick they left the gates open (Spy was inside the village before I attacked) ![]() ![]() anyhow..I saw a huge army aproaching the city of Mediolanio from the west. I quikly moved my army from north patavio and attacked the Gauls who just layed siege on the City. the battle was in open field, they only had Light infantry...and in an Open field thats meat for charging cavalery. I used a tactit to lure the enemy to attempt a flank attack on my infantry while I charged them from the rears with cavalery. The End result ![]() ![]() This army came from Masalia, so I thought to counter attack it as I knew it would be drained empty from garrison. I was right, when I arrived there was little resistance and I re-took the city. HunterICX

Just finished my first session with Broken Crescent. It's very nice, but the game crashed when loading the first battle. So I guess I will wait for another year until the mods are mature :rotfl:

I love this one:
![]() :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Playing as Milan now. Taken most of France, and suddenly Spain attacked Toulouse with aprox. 1000 men! I had about 4-500 men in the fortress, but I hold them off, killing 900+ and losing about 100+ myself. Damn that was a good battle! ![]()

just a quik report without screenshots:
Finally , Patavio is the first city that is able to recruit archers...damn I needed those. I immediatly had to test them out on the brits that attacked the city of patavio comming from the north. Stone walls and archers ![]() ![]() both ladder groups lost about 50% of their strenght before the finally climbed the ladders just to be welcomed warmly by Hastati swords. The ram failed, burning oil rained down on them and they lost all men the Tower did something weird and took a long path towards my wall causing them to lose a lot of men...when they where fighting on the wall and I killed every single one of them the chariots saw no chance of entering my city and retreated. I was also attacked AGAIN at masalia...by 3000 men! did I pooped myself for a moment there, I had half what they had in numbers.... but when I fought them I discoverd mostly where poor peasant and most units where ranged...Cavalery food ![]() didnt suffer much , but the enemy siege army was pulverized. and patched up my army back to full strenght and moved out to continue my invasion of France. meanwhile sad news, my only barbarian Ally the Germanians where wiped off the map. also the Macedonians have been wiped away by the Brutii 2 years before. Another faction was also wiped out but cant remember which one. HunterICX

Keep it up mate! Here is one thing I learned from my time with R:TW: Don't buzz with the Britons at the same time as you do with the Gauls. You might come over your head.

and the story continues... ![]() People of the Julii family! we are doing very well..the campaign in southern france has started and our brave captains and generals are advancing with great victories...a Camp has been crushed no survivors...an attack has been repelled over a bridge with heavy casualties for the Gauls! ROMA VICTOR! and we have conquered a village! but the village was very strange...some mistery was about it..why did we lose 1200 men for 460 defenders... ![]() ... First of all...the attack on the bridge of masalia...I love bridges..Just the carnage it can cause when you trap barbarians right on top of it and rain arrows on both sides of their flanks. It was a slaughter as you can see in the screenshot below. ![]() later I assembled a second attack army to attack a Army camp in front of the village Lugduno, I rain arrows on them till there was little defense and entered and slaughterd everyone of them When I mopped that away I directly attacked the Village Lugduno...and here my Gran victory was stumped into the ground...I took the city but not at a feasable price of men. is the story true? a sort of potion make these barbarians nearly invinsible?:p Campaign map: ![]() HunterICX
