Default Free cam on deck

Hi mates!
Before I installed GWX2 I used to have sergbutos cam mod installed. And now I really miss being able to climb down the ladder from the watch tower and walk down on the deck, and u know, drink my coffe watching the sunrise while sitting on deck leaning up against the conning tower.... ...nerdy....
However, I just wondered if anyone know if Gwx2 mods the cam files or is it cool to use the cam mod?
Or does anyone know how to make watch-cam free by editing the cameras file so I can do it myself?
Regards

An adaptation of Serg's camera mod is on the top priority to do list, if I can clear RL work I'll see if I can do it this weekend.

Don't worry, neither haven't I , I haven't been able to finish a patrol since we started with v2.0 (about a year ago).

Thanks for your kind words.

I use it, it works fine with GWX 2.0

Hence, I was able to take this shot:

Nothing more needs to be said! Take your time! I'm satisfied by just knowing that you have thought about it.
I'll gladly wait since I know that when you release it, then it will be a well made mod, very well worth the wait!

As stated by others, you do indeed deserve a holiday, so reboot the computer, get some sleep meanwhile, and get back to work!!!

Best regards

Now I'm confused.

I tried Serg's camera mod a while back, and it didn't let me do those things! It let me float around (and even through) the boat like a ghost. Did I install it wrong or is this the effect you refer to?

I think he means he roleplayed it. Moved the floating camera around like he was doing those things. I do the same with the similier mod in SH4 :P

Hi Liddabit.

Just a quick FYI as I am in a conference on TeamSpeak now.

We have completed the GWX camera files incorporating parts of Sergbuto's camera work without losing other improvements previously introduced by the GWX mod.

The new camera modifications will become default to GWX, and will not be introduced as an optional mod.

Cool stuff.

:p :p

I did alot of fun stuff with that mod!!

@Marko - No, it didn't get integrated into 2.1, so we'll have to wait and see if someone finds a way to integrate it and at the same time minimizing the loses from the GWX camera modifications! I do not think GWX plans to do so officially, but who knows, they are full of surprises does Greywolfs!

My question for the modders is: Is it possible to just turn on the free cam without using all of sergbutos "shaking-bed-cam-stuff" with some easy hex editing? Or do you have to change alot of stuff to just "switch on" the free cam by hex editing? Please threat me like a noob when it comes to hex....

Cheers mates!

Seriously gents, I think this is a totally brilliant mod. One of two (the other being DD's Open Hatches) that I wouldn't dream of playing without.

Of course, you can walk through things - same as with the Shift/F2 combo on the lower deck.

However, if you are able to assert your sense of realism sufficiently to avoid the temptation of walking through walls , it can really enhance the feeling of "being there" You can even go for a "pretend" swim if you want.

Alas,it's also true that using it can cause some dissatisfaction at previously unnoticed deficiences in other areas.

F'rinstance walking round the deck I noticed the ladders at the back of the Type VIIb Turm 1 are missing. I know they were there in real life - I've seen U-Boote Westwaerts!

Perhaps some enterprising modder can put them in - I'm fed up with having to climb/float up the ladder-like rungs at the side of the Tower.

Bracer ,I quite like the rocking effect when the sea's a bit rough. That seems fairly realistic. Had a few trips on the Felixstowe/Zeebrugge ferry where that happened. Still if you feel sea-sick, you can usually submerge. It stops then!!

What does bother me slightly is the GWX compatibility issue. A couple of guys have reported that it works tolerably well with GWX 2.1.

Has anyone noticed any particularly serious problems?

I like walking from the bow to the stern of a Type II, squeezing around the narrow deck space by the conning tower. That's one of the coolest things I've enjoyed in SH4 - that game has a permanent Free Cam that lets you even walk around the merchants.
