I play now LOTRO with a lifetime-account, therefore I take no care about this patch.

If it should come, I reinstall SHIV and test it again, perhaps Ubisoft convinces me this times with this product line.

Question:
From a business perspective why would UBI commit more resources to fix a game they have already sold?
What's in it for them?
If I was their finance manager I would be screaming at them to drop it already.
As if when a new supersim comes out people are not gonna buy it cause once upon a time UBI released a game with bugs and not enough patches.
Microsoft has been releasing crappy products for ages and still have 95% of the market.
From that point of view I'm happy with the two patches already out. The game is a huge success as it is and I respect them for doing this much out of respect for their costumers.

Their reputation.

Personally, I think its out of control how poor the quality of most games off the shelves are... I mean, some things that are noticable right away seem to make it through "testing" or "Quality Control"... its just not good, and the customer is not protected.. it should fall under a lemon law.

Yep I couldn't agree more with you.
Unfortunately tho reputation is not a business perspective. I hate to bring up Microsoft as an example again...

If Ubisoft had invested in a realistic production schedule for Silent Hunter 4 and then had a few cosmetic issues outstanding after release then I'd agree with you. But when they assign a Dev team for about 12 months to build a game that they know requires 18 months to build correctly, then they have to be prepared to release critical patches for the game.

I'm with you tdk and standing cow... I agree...
What I'm trying to say is that the way things are at the mo with so many crappy products out and no respect from the developers UBI is actually not that bad. At least they're listening and they're making an effort. Don't make me bring up my favourite example again...
That doesn't mean that we don't have the right to demand sth better so do keep those threads happening

It's called Customer Service, lots of companies sell stuff then have to come back to it later to deal with stuff.

I'm not going to be banking on 1.4 so the devs have my blessing to take the time they need to get it right. The thing that really worries me is the fact the 1.3 number one goal is to fix critical issues and nothing more, and how the community is going to react when it's released. Over on the Ubi forums the day after 1.3 was announced the question was already being asked when it was going to be ready (no joke) and if things like more compartments were going to be added.

People's expectations are so high that 1.3 is going to do everything on everybody’s wish list. This is going to lead to nothing but disappointment. I predict we'll get no less than 10 threads on the first day of the patch being released asking/demanding to know why something wasn't added.
sure:::rotfl:
Indeed, and they will demand another patch or mod...
you are right;;

Although, I am enjoying the game right now with the various mods that are available. I do look forward to the "last" patch so that the modders can move forward with their "magic".

The Modders keep me going! Keep up the great work!

I bought SH4 right away...saw that it was needing more work...and waited for the patches. I installed patch 1.2 and took another peek (kind of like checking the oven to see if dinner is ready). Still not quite ready yet.

Am I hungry? Yes. But I don't like getting an upset stomach and really enjoy a meal that's cooked "just right." So I've had SH4 since the end of March and have not really played it at all...just toyed with the tutorials.

I think SH4 will be the last time a Pacific theater sub simulation will be developed for the PC for a VERY long time. Therefore, I will patiently wait and at present, I'm content with the knowledge that they are going to do a patch to address the issues.

I wonder what the odds are that 1.3 will remove decoys from the game. They really should never have been in the game in the first place,and to me that is a glaring historical error on the Devs part.

The RFB Mod takes this out, removes the button.
