First of all, devs have no say how much support the game will get, how long and when the game is released. ZERO. In this case its all up to UBI, they pay for it all.

Second of all, money talk. Silent Hunter 4 was top PC selling game during the first few weeks of its release. Community was well supportive for purchasing this game and showing its support with what counts the most: sales results.

So, please stop trying to find excuses for quite early termination of support of this game by UBI. If UBI really cared about this game in the first place it would never be released in such poor shape.

From what I can gather you are a very reasonable person who obviously knows his stuff and loves Sub Sims. I do respect your point of view. I did agree that the game is playable. I also agreed about the Radar, I considered that the biggest issue in the game, everything else could be worked around. After playing for many days and weeks however I now believe that the weakest part of the game is the Japanese AI. I have experimented with this over and over. Yes sometimes they do the right thing but mostly they do not. Example - I set up in front of a convoy with 4 Escorts. Submerged, Scope up. Lead Destoyer passed by within 600 Yards. Never saw me. Put 3 torps into a freighter, waited, never moved. Left the Scope up. The Destroyer behind me made a run at me. But for some reason stopeed dead and ignored me. Convoy now has slowed to 2 knots or stopped completely. I reload, Shoot again. Hit another merchant. Still no reaction from the escorts or the merchants. This scenario has been repeated many times. I have lost all fear of the Japanese navy thus ruining any feeling of accomplishment. I have addressed this to you because you seem to be having so much fun with this sim. I was wondering if you have not experienced this behaviour and if not I'm wondering why
Sorry for the long post
Al
Actually I read on this forum that this is a bug with the convoy and this conveyed from a developer as I understand it. Yes the AI need some work for sure. Then again, I have seen some tha react very well. I had two ships that turned tail and attempted to run for it after I surfaced. Not to mention they blasted me with cannons. I do like the mixed bag of good and dumb DD. You never know what you are going to get. The good DD sometimes are precise with DC and you know it. Sometimes they are so dumb it is almost comical. So yes, I have had the stopping convoy when in all reality they should be zigging and zagging like mad!!!! I believe this might be modible so I'm going after the major fixes that the deves need to handle. Mostly the radar at this point.

As far as having a blast with this game....yes I am! Last night I discovered resupply ships hanging out in coves. I'm slowly figuring out how to work the missions so there are no repeats. As I progress in my career(I'm in Dec of 42 right now), I want to see if escorts become more aggressive or if their radar is present and working. Currently, with exception of IL2, this is the only game on my hard drive. I have not played IL2 since this game was released. So yep, really having fun with it.

This is stock water my friend. I loved the water from day one and have no intentions of changing it. My mods as listed a few posts back. Just some texture mods and reduced radio traffic for the nasty clipboard hang up. That is all.

I found that while looking for PPI on sonars. It said, "Radar will win the war!" Hence the grim reapers hand and radar on it. Symbolizing radar as death for the Axis. Seems they were correct. I though it kind of a cool way to get UBI to fix the radar!

Weird. I did notice your mod list which was why I asked. The water looks so diff from what I see at stock. - most notably less floaters. Guess it was just a nice sunny winter day.

By leaving it unfinished they are sending a clear message that they do not care about there image, products, and consumers.

Not to mention a lack of "pride" and professional behaviour.

There are plenty floaters for sure, this was a sunny day below the surface and a close up of the sub. Perhaps it blurred out the floaters. She is definitly stock though.

What makes you all think ShIV deserves more patches then ShIII??
They left ShIII unfinshed and even before considering to make SHIV they should have fixed SHIII! They didnt,.. go figure.
ANd if they do give it a third one, wait till you see the reaction to that... if i say i would be superpissed ,it would be the understatement of the century.

Btw they wont get my money for this one, while SHIII i bought blind.

Who said that it deserves more patches than SH3? There were four patches for SH3 and only two for SH4 so far.

Well i count two official patch execs in my addon folder, although its true that the version numbers go up to 1.4b. If there was 1.1 and 1.2 i must have missed them..somehow.
