Yes.. and the impacts are getting closer. We are living in the country in a small village, 16 new cases in the last two days, last cases two houses from here. A girl seems to have brought it home, the whole family caught it, all quarantined now.
But someone in april '20 said it is only the flu, and that we should inject some desinfectant if i remember right? The other 'things' are the "Querdenker" and AfD here, who protest and demonstrate closely, in public places, without masks, and which we have to thank for a lot of new outbreaks. Too bad we cannot just deny them medical assistance because of ethical concerns.

It's as easy as that
![]() Here in the UK the government are insisting the kids return to school early January so it is obvious they will spread amongst their adult parents, family and carers. |

200 British tourists in Switzerland jumped quarantine and fled in the stillness of the night. They reported to be in france now. The french are happy tio have them. The Swiss were happy to have had them. The British at home will be happy.
![]() Austria switches ski ressports open and shut, open, and shut, open, shut... In the German Mittelgebirge and Sauerland, ski ressorts do not simply shut down ski tourism, no, that would be too simple - they desperately asked people to be so kind and stay away all by themselves. Result: ski lifts overcrowded, people waiting in long lines should to shoulder, crowded ski trails. Always bet on human stupidity. Its a fail safe bet.

Not quite.
![]() The virus transmits too easily and the new mutation isn't more benign. ![]() That was why I was so worried last spring. There's no guarantee we'll all scrape-by by the skin of our collective teeth. Its getting pretty bad in north America now and it doesn''t take long to see folks who don't want to believe its happening. I live in a building for elderly and disabled people and we had several units host Xmas parties for their friends and families. Two or more family groups crowding into an apartment with a max occupancy of two people. And it gets better.. The economics mean that more people are dealing with going homeless, so why not move into "Granny's place" to get by? She's a soft touch and probably won't even tell the management. BTW, we've already had one neighbor take the one-way trip to the ICU and several had already caught the more serious dose of the flu, so we all know what's going on-even if we choose not to believe it. |

India becomes the latest country to detect the new, more transmissible coronavirus variant.
The variant - first identified in the UK - has also been detected in South Korea, Canada, and across Europe. Russia says its Covid death toll is three times higher than reported. Spain says it will set up a register of people who refuse to have the Covid vaccination. The head of England's health service says workers are "back in the eye of the storm" as cases rise. The military is to support mass testing in England's secondary schools next month. But school leaders warn the return of pupils may have to be delayed. South Africa announces new curfew as cases, linked to a new variant, rise sharply. Globally there have been 81m confirmed cases since the outbreak began, and almost 1.8m deaths. As reported earlier, new statistics from Russia show a dramatically higher number of deaths from Covid-19 than previously thought. Here's how its death toll compares to other countries: USA - 334,963 deaths Brazil - 191,570 Russia - 186,057 India - 148,153 Mexico - 122,855 Italy - 72,370 UK - 71,217 France - 63,235 Iran - 54,813 Spain - 50,122 Note: Totals for all countries except Russia based on data from Johns Hopkins University. Russia's numbers are based on excess death figures from statistics agency Rosstat and statements by Russia's deputy minister. Different countries use different measurements for what counts as a "Covid death". |

There were reports that the numbers form Wuhan at least would be in need to get m ultiplied by ten, if not much more.
Meanwehile activiosts who reported on the real events in China, have been sentenced with draconic penalties terms. The mafia clan at the top of the state still is determined to reinvent reality as it sees fit, and to enforce this lie as the new meaning of truth. Lies and brutality are the bread and butter of the Chinese regime. Oooopsie, now I have one more reason why I am well-advised not to book a trip to China.

That's still the plan.
![]() The neighbor we lost was only two doors away from my place. That was last summer and I'm 90% sure I got a very mild dose out of it. Testing was a bit "spotty" in Iowa at the time, so I treated it like it was 100% and hunkered down for two weeks. ![]() The rules for avoiding this thing are still pretty easy. -Wear a mask to protect others in case you screw up. -Try to maintain 6ft/2m distance from everyone. -Wash your face and hands with soap and water a couple of times each day. -Otherwise, do all you can to stay healthy. That means not rolling around in a snow drift while wearing only a tee shirt and gym shorts (you'd be surprised that I'm not kidding) and in my case, I have a prescription for an anti-biotic that I take "off label" for fatigue due to MS. An anti-biotic is NOT an anti-viral. I'm just stacking the odds as best as I can and I'm supposed to take these things anyway. ![]() -Eat a healthy diet and get 8 hours of sleep per day. "Dominos" is not eating healthy. ![]() ![]() |

The first person in the world to be given the Pfizer Covid-19 jab as part of a mass vaccination programme has received a second dose.
Margaret Keenan was given the follow-up vaccine at University Hospital in Coventry earlier - three weeks after the first. The hospital's chief executive Andy Hardy said the hospital was "delighted" to welcome Margaret back. Two doses of the vaccine are required to achieve full immunity. The grandmother received a first injection on 8 December, a week before her 91st birthday, and described it as the "best early birthday present". NHS England said at the time that she would have a "booster jab" 21 days later "to ensure she has the best chance of being protected against the virus". The patient was "now recovering well" after her second jab, the hospital said. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan...shire-55478675 |

A little bit more detail on the record 53,135 coronavirus cases that have been reported in the UK.
It is a rise of more than 11,000 confirmed virus cases on yesterday's figure of 41,385- which had been the highest daily cases figure until now. The latest cases data brings the total number of confirmed cases in the UK to 2,382,865. The further 414 deaths within 28 days of a positive Covid test takes the UK death toll to 71,567, according to the government's coronavirus dashboard. |

![]() There are three ways I know of that would take billions of years to happen. Heat death, big crunch and big stretch. A fourth seldom ever considered: 1. vacuum decay. a deadly, quick and clean dissociation of all matter that would happen at the speed of light. Simply 'poof' and the universe as we know it is gone. The only nice thing about this is we wouldn't even be aware it happening. |
