Hi all, I've been gone from the SH scene for quite a while now (SH3). I have been thinking real hard about getting SH5 in the Steam store, but the low rating score caused me to drop into the Subsim forum to see what's going on with the game.
The game looks really good, BUT... all the bugs and Soviet-style copy protection are worrying. Any word yet on this patch?

Patch is still coming, no ETA yet really. But that doesn't really matter with all the mods we have so far. UI/flooding/damage/morale mods all fix most of the latest bugs making the game rather enjoyable I'd say.

It's not bug fixes I'm waiting for the next patch to bring, but instead the ability to import older ships. All the other fixes are just 'nice' to have but are already worked-around or fixed.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully there will be a mod that allows you to play past 1943 as well (what were they thinking?). I will probably get the game now..

Have the modders fixed being able to command a crash dive before you leave the bridge? Or can you still only do it once you're actually inside the boat? That was something that raised a red flag for me in the SimHQ review.

You have to be inside the conning tower to order any kind of dive. I never found it to be a problem when I played, if it looked like trouble was coming my way I always made sure I was inside the tower anyway. I mostly play SH via the map anyway.

Yes, DarkWraith's UI Mod, though I disable it as I like the option to be forced go to the Conning Tower if on the Bridge, adds to the experience.

Default Patch

Well I have stopped playing altogether till the patch comes out. The release of Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries free version has given me something actually fun to do.

This poor coordination of patching the game has converted me to a waiter for future SH relases and will not buy to all other Ubisoft titles. I would actually buy an EA game before a Ubisoft one at this point.

Well, that's not really a "bug" or something to be fixed it's how the game works now, but as others said TheDarkWraith has added the ability to one-click-teleport-and-crash-dive to the Crash Dive button on his UI. The key command for Crash Dive still works normally, requiring you to be below decks before you can submerge.

off line patch?

Hi ppl I hear there is an off line patch for SH5, cause the longer I play SH5 the bigger the save game file grows and the longer it takes to loads and syncs with Ubi server. Also the more sluggish the game becomes. We here in SA suffer from 3rd world internet

Have to say thx to all the nice patches here at Subsim and ppl dedecating to it. I've got the old keys patch intalled and WOW what a difference.

How do one tell your crew to fire at target with deck and AA gun, just can't find the commands, so I'd to do it myself?

Turn the sync with server off . Also i never hit the continue campaign button , i always load my save file . Also I just keep on overwriting my one save file and use that .

@ Silent*Hunt, welcome to Subsim, you refer to SA, I assume this to be South Australia, if this is so, greetings from the Clare Valley!
