Tried it out just now, I enabled 1.1.5 over the preivous OLC and overwrite, then added uboat into commander folder. It looks slightly darker. No problems.

Aaahh, my OLC GUI works like magic
Tribal destroyer, heavy sea, it came out of the rain from 200deg, 3000m, but didn't see me... I dive immediately,
Open tube 4 and 5 I turn towards him, speed 3kts, depth 14m I guestimate speed with 12 kts AOB is left 70, range will be about 1500m I preset everything to fire as soon as funnel or mast are in my scope at 45deg starbord tube 4 is selected, G7e with 3m and impact setting, speed 30 ..... I wait... sonar says contact in 50deg up scope there he is I aim..... Torpedowaffe Achtung! first funnel is at my 45deg mark .... Rohr 4 (echo: Rohr 4) LOS! (echo: Rohr 4 abgefeuert) down scope Sonar station is reporting torpedo running normal ... I wait ... 40 seconds to go ..... I wait TREFFER! up observation scope Range is now about 1000m, I see a wonderful impact hole (Torpedo mod) DIRECTLY under the first funnel. ![]() OLC GUI is magic ![]()

I felt the v1.1.4 clearly easier to read than the darkened 1.1.5 so I would absolutely choose that one despite possibly harder night time vision. Can you therefore submit the v 1.1.5 with lighted version also? Some users could prefer choosing that. Furthermore, I am building a combination of JCWolf's U-boat 1.2 and OLC 1.1. I think they fit quite well together as someone already has reported, but I found some problems in the game menus. Installed frst U-boat 1.2 and then OLC, and the result was that main menu had larger fonts than those appearing in UBoat, and others also such as options menu. So I would like to use Uboat's menu style and fonts. => It would be great if there were an update that could fit these solid mods together. ![]() Anything else? Well, perhaps the command messages in the lower bar's centre could be with slightly larger font, for better readability, but not as large as in the stock SH3. |

![]() But when I asked for feedback, I meant really just on the light/dark issue. Still, to answer you fully... The answers to most of your questions boil down to one simple thing, I'm afraid: time i.e. mine. I don't much play/mod SH3 now. I wanted to finish the OLC GUI mod so I could call it finished and leave it alone. I could - okay, I will - release a light version of 1.1.5, but if I decide at some point to further develop the GUI then I will certainly choose to drop either the light or dark version and proceed with the other; maintaining multiple versions of a mod is too much of a pain in the neck. ![]() As for U-boat 1.2, I had once hoped to integrate the OLC GUI with it but at that time language barriers and other issues prevented effective communication with JCWolf on the matter, and probably still would, and in any case like I said I don't want to spend too much time modding SH3 right now. It's not a very difficult job - you say you're already working on it but have problems? PM me and I will try to answer your questions and, when it's done, you have my permission to release it. ![]() The font size of the text in the messages box is small so that the game can fit the larger messages (e.g. "Contact, merchant, blah blah blah...") on one line, thus avoiding the text scrolling bug. In fact I had to shorten some of the really long messages to make them fit - something I did in both the English and (with help) German message files - so you see your request is not as casual as you might reasonably think. [That's a long winded "sorry, but no" ![]() HTH OLC

Thanks for quick reply! And it is good to say "no" also!
![]() Starting with your original question about light / dark versions: I especially appreciate your support of the community for developing this so far! The darker version is slightly too dark for me, but not very much, so I even thought of having a compromise of the two. If I was to use the darker one as it is now I still would like to have it lighter for some certain parts, above all the "Flaggen" screen and recognition manual should be somewhat lighter (i.e. wider contrast). Well I guess it is mostly a matter of individual experience. Hopefully you will get more comments from other users as well. Next to the item of "glueing" those two mods (OLC and Uboat) together at game menu level. I already opened the menu.ini file and I'd be happy to do this as my first proper mod, so I'll PM you first. Finally about the last item I brought up, the message box texts: it is really only a small "issue" and I think after your reply that you have found a good compromise between text size and visible row length. Cheers ![]() |

I hate to be an a-hole and point this out, as I really love this mod. But something is wrong with the speed you get out of the AOB finder. Why was 58 degrees chosen as the speed mark? I'm guessing it was somehow calculated because it's not calibrated all the well on the right hand side of the tool that you usually end up using for this. This is not a big problem for slow targets but for fast ones the speed may differ with 1 knot. That is not a handicap I like to give the british BB and CV on the rare occasion that I encounter them, so I end up using my pocket calculator.
Lets say you find a target moving at 10 m/s (19,4 knot) Outer scale/inner scale/reading from 58 mark 100 10 20,0 150 15 20,4 200 20 20,3 300 30 20,0 Those are all realistic ship lengths and times for a fast target. However, if using less realistic ship lengths the result improves. 30 3 19,3 40 4 19,4 20 2 19,0 The easiest way to fix this is to move the speed mark a bit to the right, thereby moving the error towards the side you don't use anyway. |

HELP!
I have been using olc gui efficiently until today when i was stuck with one calculation of aob: What happens if AOB is over 90? See here: 1. I have id the ship as medium tanker 2. Range is 2900 m 3. Range is alligned with length 4. on horizontal (green/red) scale there are cca. 22 marks. How do I read 22 in inner scale? :hmm: ![]() Thanks! |

@Julius Caesar
I can see from the pic that you got the range wrong. @Storabrun Mathematically the 58-degree mark is accurate, but unfortunately my AOBFinder image is not - maybe that's why the results aren't right. The flaws in that image have been noted and discussed before. Ideally the AOBFinder images should be replaced with accurate ones, but I couldn't quite be bothered to finish that job and I notice that neither has anyone else. ![]() Probably because it's "accurate enough" ![]() Maybe Joe will make new, accurate images for U-Jagd 1.3 and then someone (me if I'm around) can bring them into the GUI with his permission...

Since you haven't had much yet.... this is just to say that feedback is to come on the darker 1.1.5 version from me soon (and hopefully others, as my voice alone doesn't count for much!). I do appreciate the continued efforts, especially since you want to move away from continued development of this mod, which I perfectly understand
