If I get detected near a convoy I sometimes prefer to take the escort out rather than play hide an seek with him and spend a few more hours getting back into a favourable position.

I remember catching a convoy with just ONE DD escort, promptly blew him (quite litteraly) out of the water with a magnetic ell under his keel. Sank the ENTIRE convoy, about 15 ships in all! 4 day patrol, and I was out of ammo so returned to base!

It was a draw, sort of.........3 Mosquitos shot down for the price of one DD heavily damaged and two coastal freighters sunk.
