Labour MPs to get free vote on Syria. I doubt he had much choice because the alternative was to be overrun with resignations from members of his own shadow cabinet as well as MP's.

Mr Corbyn's spokesman said the shadow cabinet had "accepted his recommendation" of a free vote.

Is that as much as they could muster in the 'face saving' department?

BBC chief political correspondent Vicki Young said Mr Corbyn wanted Labour to oppose air strikes, but was forced to back down by his shadow cabinet.
The leader was given a "thorough kicking" in the meeting, she was told.

Much closer to the truth I suspect.

He's got to learn that he can't have it all his way, he may have the 'the membership voted me in' line that he can use but he can't work a shadow cabinet with no-one in it.

It's pretty rare for the Big Yin to be wrong.

So, we're 48 hours from war, although the SNP will vote against, so we'll see how many Labour members go with the Tory vote. It'll be a close run thing but I think we'll be seeing Tornados over Aleppo before the week is out.
