Oh and what measures are they Jeremy? What does a pacifist think is the best tactic to use against these barbaric indiscriminate killers? You must have eventually come to the realisation that a sizeable portion of your parties MP's will vote against your wishes if and when the vote on bombing Syria is taken. A bit hypocritical of you trying to stop such actions when you have done the same yourself over 400 times during your time as an MP don't you think. |

To be fair, most other countries leaders have their own jet, we are one of the few that doesn't. In fact in this case it may well be that chartering planes each time does cost more, where as having a single dedicated plane that also fulfills other roles when not being used to transport the PM will cost less.

I've been reading that we might not be getting rid of the Tranche 1 Typhoons, MPA will be fast tracked and F-35 is on course.
Keeping Tranche 1 Typhoons might be a good idea, given we are retiring Tornado, if they can be upgraded to increase their A2G capabilities even more beyond the Paveways they carry at the moment (Brimstone and Stormshadow) even if they can't get the EASA radar they could be used well enough for CAS. Also Sentinel will be kept on too which is a good idea. ISR is always useful. Corbyn hasn't impressed me. Sure it was great as it shook up the whole debate, but the way he has handled things with regards to the shadow SDR review. Putting in Ken Livingstone as co-chair behind her back just shows he doesn't want to compromise. His comments about Trident were stupid. Even if you aren't going to push the button, you don't tell everyone that. You leave them guessing. The same with regards to shoot to kill. If I had a bunch of terrorists holding me and my friends hostage and the police or SAS had a clear shot, I would want them shot dead. He comes across in interviews as aloof to be honest. |

It's coming along well, I found a picture of the author:
In regards to Corbs, I think he has some valid points to make but they're being spun the wrong way. He wants a multi-national mission to hit Syria co-ordinated through the UN, and that's probably the best way to do it, then our strikes will be organised and so will our intel. Of course, this means that the west will have to drop its mission to remove Assad and focus strictly on Daesh, which might be a sticking point for some in the UN, and in regards to his concerns about the shoot to kill policy, he was probably remembering Jean Charles de Menezies and the right royal screw up that was. He does have a point about getting the Arabs to do the ground work, and that's pretty much what Iran, Iraq and Syria have been doing, but I think that if the UK got in with France in the UNSC and called for a military mission to end the threat of Daesh, I think that so long as it didn't get involved too deeply in what will be done after the threat has been eliminated (ie. the future of the Syrian government) then Russia will back it and so will the US. I can't see any of the current non-permanent members raising too much of a fuss, Jordan might want to tag on stuff about Assad, I'm not sure which way they lean in this proxy war, but the rest should be in favour. That being said, I'm not sure how the UN would declare war on an organisation rather than a country. ![]() But yes, we want to be careful what and how we attack so we don't end up screwing up the war effort underway. |

The problem getting the Arabs to do it is that a good number in Saudi, Qatar and others are funding IS and sympathise with them. Iranians and Syrians aren't Arabs and here in is part of the problem.
Any solution that happens in Syria will have to include Assad, even for teh short term. I see a chance here to have a proper transition to a more or less democratic government. We need to also get rid of this notion of good terrorists and bad. I personally don't think such things as moderates exist anymore in Syria. The Turks also need to be told to back off a bit. They are happy to see Assad go, also seem to have their eye on the Turkmen areas at the same time as hitting the Kurds who are in the area. Like it or not their needs to be some cosying up to the Russians. I suspect that given how quiet things over the Ukraine are that a deal has already been cut. |

The residents of Larkhall, near Glasgow, give their response to ISIS:
http://www.scotsman.com/news/odd/lar...-off-1-3954771 There has also been a major spike in race hate crimes in Scotland against Muslims since the Paris attack, enough for Sturgeon to tell people to cool it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotlan...itics-34831412 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-34877717 Mike.

^What makes Cameron think that bombing anybody will achieve anything, it didn't work in the past and it won't work now. These idiots who go along with this hare brained scheme of Camerons need a bloody lobotomy.
