I can tell you only that roughly European norm FFP2 is close to American norm N95 and Chinese-made norm KN-95, with the FFP2 filtering 94 and the KN95 filtering 95% of particles.



Further, European FFP3 is American norm N100 and China-made norm KN100, filtering 99% of particles. They never have ear-rubber rings, but rubber band that is around all the head so that there is more tension and a close fit for better sealing is guaranteed. An FFP3/KN100 mask with ear bands is not certified for that norm.



FFP stands for Filtering Face Piece.


The Chinese also have a separate norm for production quality standards, most common and demanded is now GB 2626-2019. This norm is not about the filtering performance, but the quality in the production processes.



Chinese masks that are no product counterfeits, but the original Chinese models from official production, are at least as good as the European and American norms demand, in case of KN95 and FFP2, they are even very slightly better (filtering 95% instead of demanded 94%).


Avoid FFP1, they are not "fine" enough for these Covid purposes.

Type I is a one layer mask.
Type II is a two layer mask(There are three layer)
Type IIR is a three layer mask

The last two types(II & IIR) are used in hospital and in Labs.

Face mask type 2 reduces the risk of infection both ways; both from the wearer and to the wearer. This type is used by healthcare professionals in contact with people with covid-19 and people who are suspected of being infected with covid-19.

The mask has a protective 3-layer filter with the following properties:

1. Waterproof layer that absorbs dust, odors and particles
2. Barrier layer that blocks bacteria
3. Soft inner layer that is comfortable against the skin

Type IIR:
This type also reduces the risk of infection both ways; both from the wearer and to the wearer. These face mask is used by surgical teams as they protect against blood and body fluids. "R" stands for splash resistant.

You can use type IIR face mask in the public space - e.g. when going by public transport. The mask is for single use only and you should therefore replace it after use or if it gets wet or dirty.

Rubbish. Nobody knows the global over-all case fatality rate for COVID-19. ATM it is simply not possible to calculate it accurately. You will find a range of values between 0.6 and 6%. The value for the seasonal flu (WHO) is 0,1%.
