Now it all makes sense... so I'm going to do a fresh install this week and jump back into the sim feeling llike I know what I'm doing (well, mostly). I think most of my issues have been slowly catching up with the new editing tools available and the MODS/files configuring and leaving the old habits behind.
Thanks for all the input and responses and a big thanks for all the MODsmiths' efforts in making this an outstanding sim!!! All accolades throughout these posts are truly well deserved.
What little sailing I was able to experience in trying to install the MODS correctly really blew me away. I had always loved just standing on the bridge watching the world go by as I hunted convoys with the older MODS. Now, with all the available new updates, I'm sure it will be even harder to have to order: "clear the bridge" and leave the amazing environment you all have created. (ok... the below decks work is also amazing) Definitely, now, one of the better sim worlds I've experienced... and I have a lot of sims.

Not a single ctd from start of Memel to british eastern waters . In fact I tried to break the game by high TC near ports but couldn't , rock solid . Why , I dunno .
We need to understand. When I wrote my post #3934, the task was as follows: If you add these planes ... You need to add these files ... (see old .eqp files). Not only that, the aircraft was not in the game, after adding them to the my game, they flew unarmed. For this and needed files AAguns_12_20_40mm. In "AAguns & Rockets" I added AFB_P47 only as .eqp file an example . After this I reworked planes and missiles. Unfortunately I have not seen a patch 1 but now do not need AAguns_12_20_40mm, for missiles only need 4 files: guns_Rsk (dat, sim, zon, dsd) and planes .eqp files must be as in Reworked aircrafts.

So do I

The one thing I have understood so far is that the new AA guns are no (longer) required.

On the other hand it seems that, by enabling on top of patch 1 beta a certain version of the said AA guns and of the new rockets, sober was able to fix his ctd issue. Where he got those files from and how the 'fixed' AA guns solved the problem (since they are no longer used, and duplicated ID's had been discarded as possible cause of the crashes), is still a mistery to me.

As for my patches, i.e. Open Horizons II v2.3 rocket patch v0.2 (OHII v2.3 patch1 beta compatible) and
Open Horizons II v2.3 rocket & Air guns patch v0.1, please ignore them until Trevally is back and the knot is unravelled.

I do not understand why OHII v2.2 full has been removed so quickly when it’s replacement v2.3 as far as I can see has not been tested comprehensively on large numbers of users to be reliable enough. While there are always those of us who are prepared to accept the challenge of a new mod there are also those as you can see from mod lists etc; that prefer to stay with mods that have stood the test of time updating at a later time when they feel the time is right. V2.3 at present has patches and add on’s that adds to confusion of what is needed and in what order. The modders must be congratulated in bringing up to date a mod that it’s predecessor has helped to make SH5 worth playing.
V2.2 is still available in 2 limited versions. Whether either needs Sobers Terrain Fix for v2.2 I do not know. If you want to play a full version there is now no choice it’s v2.3 take it or leave it warts and all.
I know V2.2 full had a few glitches but at least it was playable without getting ctd’s. At present v2.3 is in a confused state.
Please do not take this as a personal attack on the modders because that is not my intention. I just want you to know that in my opinion for what it’s worth a decision has been made that I think is wrong.

You had encountered many ctd's at baltic operations i presume.

Hold on, THEBERBSTER, s-h-i-t happens but you are not alone

I am sure that Trevally will be back in a few days with a proper fix.

In the meanwhile you can try following sober's instructions, and see if they work for you. From sober's mega mod thread:

Shouldn't work, report back and we will find together another viable solution

Today I downloaded the patch1beta and tried to understand what the problem is.
In the air folder (OPEN HORIZONS II v2.3 patch1 beta) all o'kay.

If the load order:
1. OPEN HORIZONS II v2.3
2. OPEN HORIZONS II v2.3 patch1 beta
3. AAguns_12_20_40mm
4. Rocket_3InchGB_&_5InchUS, then we have:

1. OHIIv2.3:

guns_air.dat
guns_air.sim
guns_air.zon
guns_Rck.dat
guns_Rck.sim
Shells_Rck.dat
Shells_Rck.dsd
Shells_Rck.sim
Shells_Rck.zon

2. OHIIv2.3 patch1 beta:

Many planes
guns_Rck.dat
guns_Rck.dsd
guns_Rck.sim
guns_Rck.zon

3.AAguns_12_20_40mm:

guns_air.dat
guns_air.sim
guns_air.zon

4. Rocket_3InchGB_&_5InchUS:

AFB_P47.dat
AFB_P47.eqp
AFB_P47.sim
AFB_P47.zon
guns_Rck.dat
guns_Rck.dsd
guns_Rck.sim
guns_Rck.zon

After installation, we have in the game:

AFB_P47.dat (old)
AFB_P47.eqp (old)
AFB_P47.sim (old)
AFB_P47.zon (old)

guns_air.dat (not required, duplicate, but there is nothing wrong)
guns_air.sim (not required, duplicate, but there is nothing wrong)
guns_air.zon (not required, duplicate, but there is nothing wrong)

guns_Rck.dat (duplicate)
guns_Rck.dsd (duplicate)
guns_Rck.sim (duplicate)
guns_Rck.zon (duplicate)
Shells_Rck.dat (not required)
Shells_Rck.dsd (not required)
Shells_Rck.sim (not required)
Shells_Rck.zon (not required)

The result is a internal name conflict between the guns_Rck.dat and Shells_Rck.dat. In addition, we have old version of P-47. Other than that, I do not see anything criminal.
Now at me is installed OHII v2.2 and, it is possible to tell, OHII v2.3 patch1 beta, and no problems.

Only today has seen it and has tested:http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...postcount=4479
Yes, it is better to use this variant, it has better sounds, solves all the questions which version of rockets to use (4 or 6 files) and is fully compatible with the all aircraft.
Only need the Z axis (node-$Rocket_smoke_trail) turn opposite to the rocket motion. At first I have not thought about it.
But for myself I will use the version with four files and with these sounds.

This is exactly as I was supposing that my patch (OHII v2.3 patch1 beta compatible) should have worked, and everything you said makes perfect sense to me. Yet, according to sober -who has tested the said patch- it didn't work. I start wondering if he tested the right patch, as I had previously released another one, not compatible with OHII v2.3 patch1 beta

On a side note, yesterday I have finished my work on the British RP-3 rocket, complete with launcher:

I am now working on the FARR (both 3.5 and 5 in) and HVAR rockets. I will send you my stuff when ready.

P.S: I am thinking of a method for making the rockets to disappear from the launchers once they are fired... stay tuned

Tried this mod order
OPEN HORIZONS II v2.3
OPEN HORIZONS II v2.3 patch1.1 Beta
Cannot enter Black pit campaign using silentotto .
Cannot enter Kiel using Coastal waters campaign .
I have to have this mod order otherwise I get a ctd .
OPEN HORIZONS II v2.3
OPEN HORIZONS II v2.3 patch1.1 Beta
AAguns_12_20_40mm
Rocket_3InchGB_&_5InchUS

I am pretty sure it is wrong mod order or incompatible from these mods .
OPEN HORIZONS II v2.3
R.S.D. - Reworked Submarine Damage v5.5 by vdr1981
R.S.D. v5.5 - OHII v2.3 Compatibility Patch
R.S.D. & R.E.M. - GHG Hydrophone add-on (no hyd on surface)
OPEN HORIZONS II v2.3 patch1.1 Beta

That is just the beginning Trevally. I have found a lot of good information about the Soviet Norther Fleet, that needs only to be put in my chart by our Russian buddies. I hope they make up their minds to work on this project before I learn Russian. Давай, ребята!

On a side note, I have a few suggestion for improving some of the current campaigns, and for some possible new campaigns. But let's focus on the recent ctd issue first!
