Hey FiFi.... Ok think I will try Ralles RealModSoup...if not for anything than to tone down the DD effectivity to a more realistic level. First patrol out and Im sitting outside a small island harbor when a Gunboat detects my periscope as well as a single old DD. It took me 4 hours trying to shake them!! So do you just download his ModSoup and install after TMO in JSGME? ... found his directions a bit confusing. |

If you use RSRDC with TMO 25, you don't need the Small Patch. RSRDC has the files changed by the Small Patch. I recommend you the Ralles Mod Soup by Bleiente, for TMO 25 and you will have all well organized and working fine for a great gameplay with a full modded TMO 25. Good hunt! Fitzcarraldo

HI Fitz!
Been looking at Ralles Mod Soup by Bleiente... but not sure which file to download. I just have the latest TMO installed and thats it.... So I guess I would only need the small patch? What I want is RSRDC to help bring the DD difficulty down a bit. Stock TMO they are VERY good....too good for me. |

Cool beans...will give that a shot when Im back in port. Currently assigned IJN interdiction 85mi S of Tokyo bay (nice first mission pull...yikes).
One more quick question... I got a radio message that said something like From: CTF3 To: TF3 Effective Immediately Shift Base of Operations to Surabaya JavaX Does this mean my base has moved from Peral to Surabaya?? Or TF3 (Task Force 3??) is moving bases? I would assume if the message was for me it would have come from my home base (Pearl Harbor) and be addressed to USS My Sub Name. |

be sure that the change of base message was directed to you/your boat and not just a "radio message". if you started at Pearl you should not have a change of base to surabaya. IF you started in Manila then that message means what it says it means and you need to get to surabaya to refit. and be quick about it because it is not a sub base very long. good luck.

Ahhh thats what I thought. It was not addressed to my sub... so I still have to report back to Pearl.
Damn...3 days just outside Tokyo harbor ... running a ladder patrol pattern and NOTHING but a lonely Gun Boat that seemed to want to harass me for about 7 hours. Played cat and mouse with him for a bit, then submerged to 250 ft and went silent running and lost him. So ....any tips on finding some cargo ships to sink?? |

You should have a traffic chart - convoy route - with your radio button.
Patrolling those lines could give you better chance

i concur with what fifi says. areas 4, 6, 7 are always ripe with shipping. also the convoy college. also the path from tokyo to truk and guam. study the historical shipping lanes map and then go get them. as pointed out in the past, you will not see regular, large, escorted convoys as in the atlantic....3-4 ships or singles was the norm for the IJN. good luck

Where is the SJ radar?
So I just finished my first patrol and its 07 Jan 1942... but when I go to the sub upgrades there is no SJ Surface radar available. I am stationed at Pearl right now.... is the surface radar not avail at Pearl??
EDIT: Disregard ...... SJ radar not available until JUNE 1942..... back to another patrol or two. But I did have an odd issue. When I first docked...I had like two Navy Commendation Medals and 4 Asia Campaign medals to hand out. After I accidentally dismissed a wrong crewman, I re-loaded when I was outside Midway and sailed back into base... I still got my Silver Star (for sinking a Carrier and Heavy Cruiser in the bay south of Tokyo ...due to not finding a damn thing after weeks of diving, listening, surfacing just outside and around Tokyo and islands south, I went into the harbor there to see what I could stir up....was a happy mistake). Anyhow...I still got my Silver Start, but NO Crew medals. Tried reloading 3 times outside midway and comming back in ..and no medals. I guess its "sorry crew...your Skipper kicked butt...but you guys just get a pat on the back".... Last edited by Faamecanic; 02-18-19 at 08:38 PM. |

Question 2.... (well 4 or 5 now)....
Got sent to the Marshall Islands on my 2nd patrol... but there seems to be NOTHING out here. Some Islands show under Japanese control...but as far as shipping???? And my mission is Anti-shipping. So where are the ships? Any good hunting grounds around the Marshall Islands?? |

That is what some would call "historical". The US initially thought that the Pearl harbor attack had to have originated in the Marshall Islands. Hence, four boats went there, and only three went to Empire Waters... The four that went to the Marshalls did not find much of anything either... A ship or two here or there, airplanes, but not a whole lot of shipping.

TMO has the « problem » to be too close to historical events for me...meaning as it was in RL, you can spend a whole career without seeing/sinking nothing!
To me it remains a game, and need some action. Even if it’s not that historical accurate. Otherwise it’s kind of wasting your time (again in my opinion) That’s mainly why i skipped to FOTRSU/Ralles.
