Same with the whole Skripal mess. We've already pointed fingers at Moscow and expelled dozens of diplomats without solid prove being displayed. Makes me wonder if there is an agenda... I just hope we are still the "good guys" because I'm not so sure anymore.

The real question is whether we really are that certain about our interests and why we do this and do not do that. I think in this regard Russia and Assad trump us clearly, even if we do not like their interests. But it is at least crystal clear for themselves what their interests are. In case of Europe and Washington I am not convinced of that. We just appeal to them that they should not have these but should instead have our interests. Which is a hopeless strategy in diplomacy with a strong. The way the Americans handle the Kurdish YPG before and after Erdoghan's attack also does not help to raise trust into the West in the resisting sides to Assad. I stick to what I say since long time. We should stay out of Syrian game playing, and focus instead on containing - and getting rid of in NATO - Turkey. Also, assisting Israel (where they want that).

With Syriah, Russia will get one or more bases from his good friend Assad, and then has direct access to the Mediterranean without needing the Bosporus with Nato partner Turkey controlling it.
edit: i might as well add that if you join a war, you should be willing to win it. A strike here and a strike there is not what makes you 'win'. Any strategy at all would already be a a good idea, because the west obviously has none.

I am afraid that Trump remembers what happened to Bush Jr.'s approval ratings once Bush became a "wartime president".

It seems that some people spend a lot of time being afraid about things Trump hasn't done.

Shouldn't we all be? C'mon, the guy seems to always start by going off half cocked and I find it far from soothing to have a demonstratibly loose canon for a president.

Maybe it just seems that way because the liberal media keeps making wild accusations against him.

Yes, maybe the "liberal media" and "leftists" and "snowflakes" are responsible for Trump.
Then they better be prepared next time to not let such things happen, and fight instantly and decisive instead of talking and taking "discussions" with certain people serious

Oh, they are. Without them, I doubt Trump would have lasted through the first primary. I see Trump as a reaction to the ever-softening of US culture by liberals. It's probably a lost cause, though.
