This map looks cool, but the original map in SHIII doesn't have nearly as many cities marked on it as this new map. From where did the extra cities come? Is it data in SHIII that is never displayed or do cities appear at different times during the war?

I had no problems downloading the zip file from Filefront. It took 30 seconds. The map came out in gif format. All I need to know is how to slit up the map into 8 1/2 x 11 sections in other to print them out.

From what I see, you did a great job Miss Behavin. It must have taken you a long time to get all the grids in there.

I have the original Aces of the Deep grid map which size is 23" x 14" and is in 6 sections in zip format but you have to put them together.

It is posted at my Enemy Beneath web site.

I also understand that JScones has reported that a much larger version is available:

"There's a really good A2 sized coloured reproduction available from a guy on ebay every now and again - I've bought two - they're about $6 plus postage."

Ok sorry for my slow brain this morning, (havn't had my coffee yet) but what does this do exactly?
Is it a mod for a new in-game map?

Can anyone who has downloaded this map and was able to print it out to use it on a backboard, how did you split it into sections suitable for printing out 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper so I can paste them all together to make the full map.

Printing this map out will be a bit easier if you use legal size paper... 8x14.

Use a program like IFranview or HyperSnap and convert the map to jpeg format. Remember jpeg files are smaller than bmps. Then find the the scale of a section that you want to fit 8x14" paper and then take screen shots of each section. I have a feeling it'll take a lot of paper and ink no matter what you do.

The idea of putting it in SHIII Commander 2.6 sounds like the best route to follow.

Miss B.... great work. JWD S!

BTW, not to pick on the file but a note only. Changing from bmp to jpeg brought the size down from 43.6mb to 1.08mb. Just as clear, saves room too, and would make an easier download.

But, still a great job Miss B.

It only took me 30 seconds to download. It was a zip file and the map was gif.

I wish to place the map in there, but I have a couple of questions first. 1) what was the size of your map in jpeg format? Mine is 10651 x 5357. 2) the map in the documents folder is only 2834 x 2400. 3) Was the map in document called SH3_map

Did you reduce the size of your map in jpeg format to the same size as that of the one in the documents folder.

I use the stock SH3 + SH3Commander 2.5

Robj, anyone on broadband can download a zipfile of that size in 30 seconds. It's the ones on dialup that can't and I'm trying to help. The one I got was Grid Only and was a bmp, I checked the Properties... sorry I didn't make that clear before. And it has all kinds of cities on the map too.

As for using the map you have, make it the same size as the one you want to replace.

I looked at the map at a high zoom but I could not find where she put it. Could you tell me where she put it, and then tell me where it should be.

You mean there were no cities on the map you got, what do you mean grid ONLY.

Yep, the zip is named Grid_Area_Only.zip with the bmp. There are many cities on it.... more than the stock SHIII map.
