So far my predictions have been accurate: Not much to do with WW1, yet the best Battlefield game so far, easily.

The game play is just pure fun, immersive, tense, yet not overwhelming.
This killed it for me

Uninstalled.

Nah, Neal, don't worry.
This is the first open beta, meaning every little script kiddie feels challenged to be the first one to hack in the most blatant way. I don't understand these low-life creatures myself, nor their motivation, but if you worry that BF1 will be a hackfest, rejoice... it won't.

You'll always have hackers in these games, it is inevitable, but usually EA provides rather good safety measures so you won't really notice them affecting your game.

Give it time.

I understand, but this is what ruined BF42 and BF2 for me. I won't claim to be a good player, but you can tell when something's up, when you empty a clip into someone and they turn around knock you down with a couple shots.

I will have to pass. Too bad, because I was really thrilled with the game. I won't have any faith that EA or any game company will make the effort to stop this.

Cool, 13 million players, that's amazing. It's a great game, if they can cap the cheats. You are probably right, as a beta, EA may not have been concerned about cheats. Let's hope that changes when it is released.

I played the Beta. Loved it.

I was really on the fence beforehand but after playing it I'll probably buy it. Given, I'm not going to buy the ridiculous (IIRC) $130 premium edition?

EDIT: Note, now that I CAN play games online.

Neal,

The one upside about hackers in a beta, is they do show where the potential hacks are.
Which allows a decent dev team to take measures to stop them...

When I started playing online many moons ago... The way you dealt with a cheater/hacker was to, despite the cheats, grind them into powder. No mercy, and focus on them.

I'm slower than I used to be, and I'm out of practice... but the "Barracuda" of old occasionally shows his head. Then the hackers/cheaters try to say I'm the one cheating.

Although, even in fast paced, "console" type games, I usually go to "calm, cool and methodical". Drives 'em nuts EVERY TIME!

My grand father served 4 years in the trenches as a heavy machine gunner, then came back home in one piece.

This game sure use freely submachine guns and semi-auto rifle like there is no tomorrow. The reality was very different.

It looks like a war fantasy for children to teach them to fall in love with death!...Is it part of a recruiting program?

Thanks, brother, that does sound good. Let me know what you think of the game, I may get it this weekend.

The Tankgewehr (13x92mm HR) is already my new favorite weapon.
Great fun to hunt with that.
