That's why I bought the wife a 16" cast iron skillet to do most of her cooking in, she can barely lift it, let alone swing it.

Rgr that and a quick example.

Called to attend a house disturbance late one evening. On arrival at the front door (lower half timber, upper half glass 'totally smashed in'). No response to repeated knocking and announcing loudly who we were (my partner and I), heard screams so forced an entry and on climbing the stairs viewed an adult male and female in the kitchen. The female who was quite emotional and upset was wearing a nightdress that was tattered and torn and the male was holding a 10" blade carving knife in his left hand but not displaying any aggression or obvious intent on using it.

Went into 'broken record' routine "Put the knife down before anyone gets seriously hurt."

Male looked as if he was willing to cooperate so took a step toward him and in an instant the female attacked my partner shortly followed by the male who started to raise the knife but not necessarily in a threatening manner.

What ensued was a little ugly but the main point being nobody suffered further injury.
