Hi, Feuer Frei!

My opinion.
The first screen - catches the eyes of his "museum's" origins.
The second screen - catches the eyes non correspondence of the armed forces, i see a field construction of non german land Air Force...
The third screen - just GWX is better...
The few last screens are good... but for easy reading working information necessary to reduce the contrast of the background images, and may be slightly defocus them...
and more... I believe that this is a perversion (not the right idea about things of that era) to represent documents in the interfaces as the old manuscripts of 2,000 years ago.

Good luck.

All valid points.

I will push this initial release out and with your feedback and hopefully others i may do a second version which is more immersive.

Thanks again for your points.

hi, Feuer Frei!

I am pleased to see an adequate reaction to my opinion... it's a rarity on such forums.

Good luck.

Glad you like it. Not too immersive-breaking for you? Re the colour of the paper and some of the screens?

Hi all.

(sorry in advance for the image-heavy post, however it was needed to get the full effect of my update)

After some thought, i have decided to re-do the 'paper' part of this mod.

Ie any screens in SH 3(GWX) with a paper-type texture which the game 'writes' onto.
For example, the mission loading screen, which has your mission details like port location, patrol co-ordinates, U-Boot class, Recognition manual, and many others.

I draw your attention to my original re-worked paper texture...
(Note: when looking at the following screens, please do not take into consideration anything other than the 'paper' textures).

Now to my 4 proposed paper textures.

The following are all compared to the stock gwx paper look.

The different version numbers are in the image itself, in red:

I'd appreciate some input on the best one out of these 4.

More updates to follow.

I'd stick with The Grey Wolves one

Paper 1

UPDATE:

After deciding, with some input from a few others, to go with a different paper texture, here are some new screens, these are the single mission and campaign load screens.

2 versions, 1 with bubbles, 1 without (Jim, i left your Boat alone...for now ):

I've intentionally left some of the original background (grey) near the centre of the U-Boot, to break up some of the blue.

Next, a new intro screen for GWX:

And lastly, the main menu screen:

Input needed!

1. Campaign loading screen : without bubbles

2. Intro screen : very good - no comments

3. Main menu screen : Too bright and some text can not be seen clearly: upper left corner and down right corner.

Thank you.

FINAL UPDATE

I'm pretty much done with it now, after re-tuning some screens.

This release will be version 1 (there may be other updates\versions to this).

Requests for changes to next version will be considered.

This mod took me a crapton of time, partly my fault because i just wasn't happy with some of the screens.
This mod doesn't change all ingame screens.

Following now i will post some images, comparing stock (GWX 3) and edited screens.

NOTE: GWX 3 is required for this to work.
Also this mod is NOT compatible with alternative loading screen mods.

Ok, screens:

MAIN MENU

U-Boot Aces screen

Patrol History

Career Menu
(note: i haven't been able to work out the click-through overlays, so you will need to scan your mouse over this screen to find the next section you want. I figure this won't pose too much trouble gor most of you, since we've all played it enough times to know where the different sub-sections are on the career menu).

Barracks screen
(note: it probably is too dark in some areas, i may fine-tune this 1 screen to lighten it up a bit)

Crew Management Screen

Campaign Start Screen

The paper worked out well.

Apart from the Barracks screen being a bit too dark, thats about it.
Once thats done, upload time.

Cheers.

Great work FF can't wait to try it, however your mod link isn't working shipmate.

Best regards.
