I agree. It is just fun to watch if you set aside historical accuracy.

"In enemy hands" is just horrible, don't even waste your time with it.. after watching Das boot and Enemy below, I doubt you will even be able to stand 5 minutes of it.

Unfortunately those of us who live for history see it as a travesty. I couldn't even enjoy the exciting parts. It's about as believable as Space Battleship Yamato.

I've reason to believe you watched it twice

I'm sorry but Space Battleship Yamato is more believable than U-571...

And I watched many times

I wish I could watch Yamato.
If it doesn't have the same music as the trailer

Wait a minute... Space Battleship Yamato actually exists? I thought Steve made it up.

Since it's late here and I am sleepy, I am gone to blame that for not knowing if you're joking or not! If not... go get a copy and see it!

Ah, manga. That explains why I've never heard of it. I thought it would be like some crazy 50s B&W sci-fi B-movie, which might actually be kooky enough to be enjoyable.

I let myself be talked into watching one episode way back when. That was enough.

It is a great piece of sci-fi IMO and revolutionized the japonese animation industry. Many people consider that the series were the first anime and before that the japonese cartoons were "japan animation"!

For a animation 70's show, it has a lot of caracter development and stories, more than many movies/tv live action series!

Just watched Das Boot for the first time after hearing about it before becoming a member on this site, and wow one of the more amazing movies i've seen.
