Turns out Time Warner lost a repeater somewhere during the storm, and due to some city regulation, they can't reinstall it. Because of this, the amplifiers they will then install in each house are on back order for an unknown amount of time.... So no Internets till then....

My internet service went down shortly after the announcement about Osama buying the farm. Don't know if that had anything to do with it or not but it was unusable for the rest of the night.

(just happened to me)
when you work under an 8m ceiling, you climb down, are still rigged, the steel rope gets stuck at a CO2 fire extinuisher, thing falls down and goes off -> Aaaaahhhhhrrrgggghhhh

I'm happy it was no foam extinguisher...

HA! Had that happen to me once. New guy we had riding in the back of the squad one day decide to worm his way up to the front so he could talk to us. Somehow his knee pulled the safety pin, then pulled the handle. POOF! Yellow powder exploded in the cab. That truck still smelled funny many years later.
