What i dont understand about the damage system is what the percentages say. How ****ed am i if both my engines are down to say 40 % or 30% There really is no difference in-game unless they are down to 0% My radio once went down to 23 % and my hydrophone to 44 % Didnt make no differance i could still use them both! It seems the damage system only understand when it hits 0% and then its detroyed beyond repair. I really dont think you can damage systems and as a result they dont work as good anymore. thus the so called "damage" is nothing more to show you how far it is from being destoyed and thats all. Really arcady if you ask me. In fact it works just like a health bar. When it reaches 0% your dead. At leasts in sh-3 when you damages your left engine the left blade would turn slower or stop.

The Uboots had separator filters. The fuel tanks located outside the pressure hull were of the "self compensating" type. That means that the consumed fuel was displaced by sea water. Of course, during navigation, water gets mixed with diesel oil although the difference in density and the fact that the fuel is taken from the top of the tanks (as opposed to car tanks which are emptied from the bottom) contributed to a generally low quantity of water present in the oil fed to the engines. Separator filters were still a necessity.
The real problem is not a certain quantity of water sprayed inside the pot (it was seldom done in the past in some high performance aircraft engines to lower the gas temeperature) but corrosion of the fuel lines and sediment deposits in the injector nozzles which will worsen combustion and, in the most severe cases, obturate them. Since the heavy oil burned by the engine is still lighter than water (0.90-0.95kg/liter), as the fuel stores were consumed, a few trim tanks inside the hull had to be emptied to compensate for the weight difference. ![]()

![]() ![]() So do you think that under no circumstances short of both shafts snapping or total failure of the hull, the engines couldn't be totally put out of operation?? If that is the case, it would be nice to see them being forced to run under reduced rpm while they are repaired or some tangible result to them at least being damaged |

From what I remember in SH3 and sh4, it worked the same. I would be very surprised if the damage code was different. It worked well enough in SH3/4, why would the devs bother to recode it? ![]()
