I totally want to get it, but I'm unsure how well my computer would handle it.

Too bad there isn't a demo.

Unless you have a pc older than this one you might have problems

cpu - Athlon XP 2.6ghz
2.5gigs ram
GF 7600gs 256 ram <-- at the time playing the beta i had this card
WinXP

Game ran fine the beta only allowed multiplayer so i had to have the internet running while playing, that right there is a shattering experience but SCII ran okay for this old beast - had graphics on low to some medium resolution 1280x1024. Just have to turn alot of the eye candy down but it still looked good at low settings.

Its the ingame cut scenes that will unfold the story as you play that is going to be the best thing for me, infact thats really what im looking forward to is the story its going to be grand Maybe i should just wait for someone to put up the story on Youtube save me a $100 bucks

Oh one thing i should mention there is no LAN support for SCII

Only played 3 missions, but I couldn't stop thinking about it. Fell asleep thinking about it, wok up thinking about it.

Wouldn't say it's addicting (yet), but it's definetly top quality. The bits between missions are maybe the best of the game.

Your rig should play SCII easily.

Same but would only buy it as long as a Paladin is one of the playable character/heroes. It's either holy smite or no smite at all :-D

I run SCII on high on the following

Intel Duo Core E6750 (2.66ghz)
2 Gb DDR2 Ram
MSI NX8800GT 512mb DDR3
Windows XP SP2

so you'll be fine.

I got a bit mixed feelings about it. The gameplay is good, well it's identical to SCI, so nothing new to learn, biggest dislike is the lack of attack move command.

The campaign goes like this: After the few opening missions, you get a Battleship from which you launch your attacks on planet of your choosing to do different tasks, in return you get money and research points. Hmm... sounds awfully familiar.. where have I seen almost identical concept before... oh right DAWN OF WAR II! Really Blizzard, you can come up with your own ideas too, right? Or if you can't then don't take something that was utterly crap and port it into your own game. DoW II's campaign got boring very fast, but atleast in that you evolved the same guys. In SCII, you can buy unit upgrades and mercenaries, which is IMHO useless. Why I want to buy a team of 2 Firebats when I can train 20 of them in the mission? The research points allow you to use either Zerg or Protoss technology to better your troops/abilities/buildings which is nice, with the exception that I don't get how I need some Zerg tech to get a big farking gun on-top of my bunker.

Right, well I'm only 4-5 missions in, so hopefully it gets more exciting than this... or I have to start spending my time in the Canteen playing Lost Viking.

It has attack move command.

Agree that mercs are useless though, rather spend the money on my own units.

The Zerg vs Protoss research doesn't really make sense, but it factors into which mission to choose; each mission either furthers Zerg or Protoss research.

Seems THQ lacks the same thing of comming up with their own ideas

when I tried DoW II I had the same feeling ''How ****ing original THQ'' where have I seen this campaign system before ow yeah on the PS2 with Starwars Battlefront II you have your command ship and you can launch a attack on the planet of your choosing and if you won you got rewarded with bonuses and abilities.

basicly I just want to say:

but in general who gives a damn we can root pretty much anything back to where it original came from.

Every FPS is a DOOM clone, every RTS is a Dune clone, every digital distribution system is a Steam clone, etc.

* not my opinion, but people tend to trace stuff back like that.

From Games Workshop! NANA NAAA!! *runs away*

But it's a good game, just would have wished more from Blizzard, especially for the story, (after 6-7 missions) I'm still not quite sure what the heck is going on. I mean, I know the ultimate goal is to eventually get the emperor, but then there's these small things that jump out like how I am suddenly willing to go out and hunt for some relic and kill some Protoss while I'm at it after earlier in the game Raynor said that "he has a past with Protoss and can probably reason with them". Is all ok, if it would be something to do with the plot, like Protoss being smacktards and not helping out in the war against the Zerg, instead holding back some weaponry or something that would be rightfully mine, now that'd be ok. Not a mission to go get a relic for some blackmarket guy who then sells it and gives me $100 000. 100k I don't even need!

AND WHY CAN'T I WATCH THE POLE DANCER CLOSER IN THE CANTEEN!!??

True that. And it applies to Warhammer & Warcraft aswell, Tolkien->Warhammer->Warcraft. Where the discussion gets hot is the WH40k vs. Starcraft bit, there's dozens of articles going in great detail examining the similarities between the two.

Aye, recently had one on Kotaku as well. Just have to look at the art style and it's undeniable, not to mention the grunt in both being the "Space Marine".

Must say I get the impression you're just not interested in the story though. For example, the reason you're after these artifacts is because Tychus wants too. Raynor owes him one, so goes along in it. The clash with the Protoss was a different "clan" or something.

Sums it up pretty well: http://kotaku.com/5598410/starcraft-...er-impressions
Though you need to take care which units you build. Can't just churn out a horde of Marines and expect to win every fight.
