It's here!

First light is bouncing of the gray sky, and the flakes have started falling.

Still half an hour to sunrise, maybe I can catch those first rays glistening on the first snow of the season.

My ears! IT BURNSZ!!!

It's no winter-wonderland, but with a coat of snow it's actually bearable to look at. Even enjoyable to walk through: nothing like the crunching of fresh snow under your feet, placing the first prints before the hoards of other feet turn it into slush.

I'm sure I don't need to point out that I'm no photographer, or that the darn camera suffers from barrel distortion.

Not much snow here where I live, the south of England has had more than where I live.

Ahhh, the wonderful British climate

I think the photos 1+3+4 are fine composed.
And I agree; being the first person to walk through the snow is great.

Keep those photos coming from the rest of you too, if you receive any snow.

Great pics. I love visiting the snow. Only a few hours drive from here but it almost never snows here. (Last time was in 1968)

What if we don't get snow? Can we post pics?

Yesterday I went fishing wearing shorts, flip flops, and a tank top. Might do the same today. It's clear blue sky, supposed to be 70° F (21° C), light ocean breeze. Sounds like a great day for fishing. Just saw the High Surf Advisory, might just go surfing instead.

I hope y'all enjoy the snow.

Got snow, got cold temp. Don't know if I want to risk my digi cam outside, I might take some with my cell phone cam if you can bear the crappy quality.

You know what I like about snow when it's actually coming down? How it absorbs sound and makes everything quieter.

Also, in general the skies during winter seem so much more dramatic!!!

Here's a view from the other side of the coin.

My friend left Aalborg over the weekend and hasn't returned yet.
I hope he got a long run down to the warm countries, and isnt stuck in this someplace.
Even more so, I hope both he and his truck (a fairly new Man) are OK.

I realize that most of you won't be able to read the story, but there is a short video clip.

Now let's see if the link takes.:

My car battery died last night because i forgot my cd player on..
The car is an Volvo s60, so the battery is situated in the trunk that was frozen stuck. The doors were also frozen so it took some time to get in, it was a cold night, probably around -25C.

I hope you were home when it happened, as opposed to being stuck somewhere else without the benefit of heat and shelter.

Had ourselves a real proper snowstorm today! It was terrific!

In the morning. Nothing special just yet, but those clouds looks menacing...

Couple of hours later. You can just about see the tramstation on the other side in the left background. It was incredible. You could barely see a thing! And the footprints you left were gone in minutes! (That's Martin, a good friend of mine and a classmate on the picture btw).

And just for the sake of it, here I am:

This picture might give you a better idea about the heavy snowfall...

Most we've had here is sleet. Which predictably showed up while I was outside The snow, if it arrives, is forecast for tonight and tomorrow morning...probably when I'm heading out for work Still, once I've got my full Siberian gear on (see sig) I'll be snug And work is always bloody hot, so I'll defrost there.
I think the worst of it will be inland as usual, we'll be lucky to see an inch of it.

I was at my girlfriends place so no survival training needed this time.

Be careful what you wish for. You just may get it.
