This thread made me go find my old Lego collection.

...I think I'll be playing with them well in to the night

Um... yeah, the closest game I had to army men was "clod wars" with my brothers.

As you have already assumed, I should imagine, our ammunition consisted of dirt and rocks.

That got painful, fast, but it was still fun... until someone hit someone else in the head.

We need to market a suicide bomber, maybe for GI Joe or another. It can be safe too, it could be spring loaded to pop apart kind of like the rockem sockem robots heads that would pop up when struck.

I guess the meaning of the word "sane" is relative then.

Maybe there are thousands of people with a dire need for a Jihadist Lego figurine.

While I see no reason to ban it. (If a parent is dumb enough to buy this for the kids. The kids are screwed up already) It is in low taste and unneeded.

What are kids going to do? Pretend the toy is setting IEDs to blow up a lego convoy?

It is not just an insult to one side but a horrifying element in the face of the many families who have lost loved ones to this war.

Sadly this uproar will only increase sales.

Oh, this is rich. People who demand realism in their games of blowing up ships and other things with high explosives take issue with a Lego character armed to the teeth.

Let me ask this: would any of you also object if it were an American GI armed with an M16 and grenades?

I don't get why some people are so sensitive as far as Muslim extremists are involved. People DO know that hating terrorists does not equate to hating Muslims, right???

Let kids create their own fantasies. Its not real Zachstar. Is it wrong for a child to rollplay? Can't he build a city of legos and then have a lego bomber plane drop a lego nuke to vaporize the lego city and have a lego fallout?

Do you really believe that boy will grow up to a man working for the military in a nuclear silo with his ichy trigger finger on the red button? Because its his dream to blow up things like cities? I doubt it.

Zachstar looking at your statement we shouldn't even be playing SH3 because it will offend certain people also maybe someone will loose it and start shooting real torpedo's at merchant ships somewhere in the ocean? Lets not forget many of us lost family and friend in the last two great wars.

A childs mind isn't the same as and adults. They don't see the world the same as us. Plus a childs life is short in terms with living as and adult for most people.:hmm: Let them play. They will grow up soon enough and see the world in its true colours.

Then they will play paintball or Call of Duty IX hehehe.

Well, only adults are going to buy this, and they will know its in bad taste. Kind of the only reason to buy it. So you can tell your friends about it.

Rather insensitive now that I think of it, but its just a cheap gimmick.

edit: Whoops, I guess my post seems rather short compared to the last one.

Wolf looking at your reply it appears to me that you have not thought too much about this.

Using SH3 is a VERY bad example BTW. SH3 is a simulation of war and unless you are spending your days unrealistically attacking hospital ships I do not see how anyone could be offended,

Tell me this? What would you rather do? Play SH3 in front of a survivor of a submarine attack or send one of these lego figures to a mother who lost her son to a terrorist?

Not so simple now is it? Now it becomes difficult as you would not want to do something so horrid as to remind them of their loss in such a pathetic way.

As for children? If you want them playing "Blow the GI toy up with the terrorist toy" You go right ahead but don't expect me to have any respect for the parent who lets such happen. Especially in a middle of a war.

So do we take Grand Theft Auto games off of the shelf because the widow of a slain cop objects?

The ultimate point is that, no matter what anyone does, creates, or believes, it is bound to be offensive to someone else.

Frankly, I find it odd that you see the potential of "blow the GI toy up with the terrorist toy" and don't see the "blow the terrorist toy up with the GI toy" side of things.

Hmm last time I checked GTA was purely a upper teen to adult game that is fully such. Not even attempting to make a case for children to play it.

I am not calling for them to be removed. I am just saying it is extremely poor taste and to see anyone actually defending children playing with it is frankly sickening.

Alas all I am doing tho is creating more potential sales for this disgusting thing so I'm out of this conversation.

The intended target for an item isn't what matters. Sure, GTA is for upper-teens to adults. Just like cigarettes. We know how that works, don't we?

But a Lego character isn't even graphically demonstrating violence. I suspect most kids would find the terrorist to be a similar character to, say, Cobra in GI Joe. Or should we just remove bad guys altogether?
