Wow......

really, this really shows what you dont have in flightsims...this whole
ETO vs PTO horsedump.

but here....every fkin time some kaleun comes with some remark fired against the other Theater BLAM Subsim Naval battle commences

no wonder AVG is getting tired of this kind of horsedump beeing repeated over and over again.

Subsim Addict contains all what we like ''Silent Hunter'' in GENERAL.
not fights between the 2 games, knock that childplay off, better yet STOP turning SH3 and SH4 into a bloody religious holy object because its defintly NOT
to say it rude ''ITS A FKING SIMULATOR!''

Wha? I hate the Pacific in the flightsims! For the same reason SHIV never struck me like SHIII did, I find the Pacific boring. And just so you fleetboys dont feel sad and go cry into a corner, I find Uboats in the Pacific boring too.

As for the moderators, how about taking the situation under control by force? This has been going on for years and we've all seen nothing stops it, so instead of locking the threads (which, if you ask me, isnt the greatest idea, it stops the fight, but doesnt solve it) you should start handing out 10-30 day bans for ppl who are constantly in the heated threads running their mouths.

Well, yes, silly threads like this and others around the forum. Normally it gets worse as the weekend hits and the drinking starts. Sometimes a full moon or the Northern Lights stir everyone up for flame-fest. So, a simple thread providing a link to all the mods turns into to this. Why it is a bit tiresome.
zzzzzzz... this thread is getting both long-winded and boring and as this site's designated Gremlin I'll add some spice to it. Hmmm, let's see if I can stir up some trouble here. Ok, one day Ducimus and Sailor Steve were........
(discontinued due to technical problems).

Great idea Dowly, we will start the bans today and you are first on the list. Any last words or a smoke before you go? J/K Dowly. We only hope this stops as most are grown men here. Childish antics long brushed off your shoes. Most of the discussions that are heated are not enough to ban. However, some do go off the deep end where a banning is in order. Also, allowing a thread to just go on into oblivion with name calling and flaming is not the way to go either. It disrupts others on the forum and my email inbox goes haywire. Others request it be locked. Once that happens, the lock goes on. For those that want to clear the water, use the PM function.

BTW, in IL2 I enjoyed both theaters. Aircraft carriers are fun and miles of open ocean with a fading gas needle puts a knot in your stomach.

Of course, once we do this, the general membership begins to cry 'foul', 'gestapo moderators', and begin demanding my personal information. Then you have a site where, esentially, marshall law is declared, members have their proverbial knees broken over the slightest infraction and 1/3rd of the users are on a 30-day ban. That's not the type of forum that I would like to frequent, and I'll bet that most of the people here feel the same.

Instead, this could all be avoided by having the members simply act like adults. After all, these are just video games. Take your pick.

And how many brillion times has this been said over the years? Many. It doesnt work. Neal's intervention doesnt work, PM's dont work. What else there is to do? :hmm:

Actually, it does work, and it has worked. This has been the primary difference between SubSim and a lot of those other websites out there. Most of the members here take a step back and calm down before deciding whether or not to reply, and in what manner if they choose to do so. 90% of the antics are perpetrated by just a few who seem to have impulse control issues. A few are always manageable.

Honestly, this silly ATO v PTO thing is not much more than a nuisance. It's like having a welt on your leg and occasionally bumping it. You think 'Oh, yeah, the welt', and then you move on. Most people have moved on.

Yes, it is time for an example. I understand Dowly has volunteered. Later on today we will have a eulogy session for Dowly. At that point we commit his body to the entire internet with SS being closed off to Dowly. There will be a party promptly after Dowly is committed to the world wide web.

I say we have a thread opened and let the air be aired out! In fact, there is several going on now. This is just one of them. Find the others. This bickering is status quo. We are used to it.

Or, we could do that too. We could even bring in Russell Crowe to read the eulogy a la Master and Commander.

We can do anything, just as starting to speak about the ATO in the SH4 workshop, and see what happens ... So honestly I think it's an interesting idea. :hmm:
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
IMHO.

It is only desperate because the usual suspects keep returning to the scene of the crime. The gun battle ensues and on it goes. There are plenty of ATO discussions in the SH4 workshop and all are on the level. Less than a handful are off keel.
