Don't drive with the radio playing loudly in an unfilmilar area ...

Tap the brakes lightly if someone is following too close and then speed up (they will hit you if you brake too hard)

Check all fluid levels ... be wise yuri or you will run out of oil, power steering fluid, brake fluid, water, air, spare tire, gas even ...

Stop for all stop signs till you get the hang of just taking a quick look (we all do it)

One lesson I learned in Los Angles was to never be the first car to leave when the light changes from red to green ...
there is always another car or two and sometimes three cars running what they think is a yellow.

Make sure you always know where your drivers license, insurance, current registeration, make model and vin number is at.

Purse, pocket, visor or glove box ...

Flashlight, blanket, pillow, extra bottle of water, energy bar, book to read in case of a road block, flood, ice storm, traffic jam ...

Purchase two cheap sets of common tools at a discount auto supply ... Why?

So you can just give one away if someone needs help along life's highway and you can be on your way knowing you tried your best to help.

No hitchhikers means no hitchhikers no matter how innocent they look ...

That's all ... now if I could just get my children to listen to me ...

Any tips? What really annoys you when you're on the road? What do you appreciate?

Also: Kapitan_Phillips won't let me drive him around when he comes! He says he doesn't trust new drivers. Is this stupid? y/n?
Always drive low to make your profile not attracting unwanted attention, and hide behind the terrain. when the dachshounds look at your face at same eye level when you ask them for the way, you do it right. When other drivers are on your six, barrel-roll and let them have it, or make them seeing you turning into a warp-jump line. The fun-pedal is to the right, the party killer in the middle, the left pedal is useless since you need only one gear anyway - the highest. Just know that once you left the parking lot you are on your own - in traffic nobody can hear you scream. the proper style to safely drive your car around is to have both feet cramped to the inside, tongue hanging out to the left side of the mouth (so that the slobber flies out the window and can't ruin the interior), staring red eyes close the windshield and the left middle finger in upward attack position. That way, some drivers safely make it home. Always grab the initiative. And that traffic cops are your friends, is an urban legend. They are rolling pain. The only way they ever should see you is in their rear mirror, panicking. If you come to a halt due to a cop, you then know what separates a good driver from a bad one, and that you still have a lot to learn.

But if you drive as I tell you, you will collect plenty of experience soon.

Having taught 2 people to drive I say: Pay attention to your surroundings, especially when you're backing up! Take your diving responsibility seriously. Try to learn from others mistakes- it's cheaper that way.

Don't even think of having a cell phone in the car.
