I love the work your doing. v1.01a is a must have if no other mods. Think ill stick to old version though till it gets refined. Again thanks.

Now, isn't that a bit bizarre??? Your Sound Officer mod downloaded with no problem, but I keep getting ERROR 403 ACCESS FORBIDDEN for either of the two Splash mods.

I had the same problem with Lurker's MessageFix mod, and he finally had to do a direct D/L from this site.

I just hate getting FORBIDDEN! Makes me think maybe they're all after me.

Anyway, I really appreciate what you're doing. These are great and were badly needed.

Thanks, Art

This is a variation of Depth Charge Drop Splash v1.01a. What this mod does is replace the dc drop splash sound with the sound man's dc warning voice. I made it where the voice will be constant in the sub. Not fading or directional. I also added a slight pitch variation to his voice so it will sound slightly different each time he announces 'depth charges in the water'. Maybe more human sounding and hopefully less like a damn repeating robot. The pitch variable is only about 5%. Nothing drastic. The repeating voice warning may become annoying after a while because the sound man will warn EVERY time a depth charge hits the water. Multiple depth charges dropped quickly together will make the sound man make multiple warning announcements. Also, I set the voice range limit to 300 meters. Any depth charges dropped at a distance farther than 300 meters will not be detected or announced by the sound man. This mod isn't perfect at all. But hopefully it's good enough until someone can really fix the broken crew voices. Enjoy!

I have for the first time, been able to run SHIV without desktop crashes and want to minimize the number of mods I install to make sure I dont have any more problems. I have not reinstalled the mod enabler. I assume this DC warning sound may be manually installed simply by copying the files to the appropriate folders. If there is a trick to it would somebody please let me know? Thanks! Joe S

No trick, just use JSGME mod installer (strongly recommended).

I really love the idea of this mod, but as it involves changes to sh.sdl I'm afraid it's off limits. I use WilhelmTell's Sound Distance Boost, which modifies the same file. Keep it up though, I hope you'll be able to tackle all this missing sounds mess eventionally.

I will try to release a compatible version for you and (who else)? Give me a little bit of time, ok?

Well, anyone who uses ROW Sounds, actually Don't sweat it, just giving you a heads-up here. BTW, any progress with getting the Destroyer on Attack Run sound working?

No progress really. It's a big mess.

Bummer...gotta love the rushed parts of a game. A curse and a plague on publishers' deadlines!

Yeah, I know. They focused on fixing some of the graphics problems in 1.4, but skipped important gameplay fixes (such as all the missing voices). Eye candy overy gameplay features? Whatever....
