At what settings will my rig be able to run Crysis? Here are the specifications :

AMD Athlon 64 3500+
2GB DDR RAM (PC3200)
Nvidia Geforce 8500GT
I have pretty much identical rig, expect I have the GF8800 and I can run it on medium settings to get decent FPS, ~20 or slightly over it.

Even with a 8800 you can only manage at medium settings? Wow , and I thought the 8800 could run anything at Max. details.

I get ~20fps on some parts of the game with high settings, but when there's lots of action it tends to drop to 10 or so.

That is brutal, Dowly. I have a Core2Duo 2,4ghz, 2Gb DDr2 and a 8800GTS 320MB. I run Crysis at high (except shadows on low or medium, cant remember) at 1280x1024 and get 30-45 fps. (sometimes dips into the 20`s)

Subman: Thanks! The first track is from the DaVinci Code OST, the second from King Arthur OST, and the last from Hannibal OST. All by Zimmer.

Yeah, I think Crysis runs better with a dual or quad core processor, because right now Im getting low FPS's on the game, probably caused by my old AMD 64 +2800. Im hoping to get a new proc. soon though.

You won't get any advatage for a quad core. A dual core will help though. Try turning down the in game physics - that is what is mostly effecting your CPU. That is why you will find a CPU test in the bin directory.

Well I'm thinking about getting an Intel dual core E2160 1.8GHz and just over-clocking it to 3GHz, that should give me the boost I need and at an insane price of 89$ its a steal for the OC performance.

I've got a Dual Core E6600 (IIRC) it's 2.4g with 2gb DDR2 and handles Crysis nicely. I did do what many people say is foolish and buy an 8800 Ultra though and that allows me to have all settings on very high. The auto detect settings even choose those settings, i love it!

No need to go overkill on the GFX card like me (i got it because i'm not married with kids and wanted it over a PS3..) but i'd suggest getting at least 2.4 ghz for a processor.

Yeah, I have an 8800GTS 320, and im not sure if the memory of the GTS is good enough for crysis. The new processor should get rid of my current bottleneck problem, and hopefully crysis will run at more then 10 frames a second. Have any of you over clocked your hardware?

I'll probably end up over cloaking in the future but for now I don't need to plus it voids my warranty. Plus i'd need a much better case, you know how hot 8800s get!

-I should have gotten the EVGA card but I went for Asus.

An 8800 GTS should work fine. You will probably be able to play on High detail on that at lower resolutions.

ATI designs their XT and XTX products to overclock - doesn't void the warranty. They have a built in overclocking tool right in the driver control panel. It will automatically overclock your card to a safe setting. Mine seems to have a target GPU temp of about 90 C or slightly above. Max core GPU temp allowed on my board is 120 C so I am outside that by a wide margin at 90 C.

Well I play most of my games at 1280x1024, so would I be able to run Crysis mostly at high with a 3GHZ dual Core?

That depends a lot on your GPU , a Geforce 8800 with your specifications can do that quite easily from what I've heard.

So gentlemen, one last word of advice from you. Since AMD appears to have lost the Dual core race , which Intel Dual core processor do you recommend I purchase ? I don't want anything particularly at the top of the line, more of a medium-high range processor.
