Of THESE Films, Which Is Your Favorite? [33 CHOICES]

Definitely got to be "Papillon".

Brutal treatment in a penal colony has been explored on the screen before in such earlier films as I WAS A FUGITIVE FROM A CHAIN GANG, but never has there been a more graphic potrayl of the sort of conditions prisoners faced under the worst sort of environment.

At times the film is extremely harrowing to watch, and at other times the story tends to drag a little. But there can be no doubt that McQueen and Hoffman create believable and sympathetic (yet quirky) characterizations and do some of the finest acting of their careers. Their roles are physically demanding and always played with total conviction.

Not for the squeamish, but extremely well acted by the entire cast, great location photography and a nice background score by Jerry Goldsmith. The first half of the story is much more compelling than what happens in the final years and the last half-hour of the film is a bit sluggish in pacing. But overall, a memorable escape film that ranks with the best of other escape stories.

Heh. I saw Papillon as a kid at a drive-in theater. Happily of lot of it went over my head at the time. Still remember being creeped out when they visited the lepers.

Yeah, that was a great scene.

"Well, they're all lepers."
"Yeah, so?"
"So, they'll probably kill you if the deal goes bad."

Crazy Jack locked up in a hotel all winter with his wife, son, and a suck-up bartender that isn't really there. What could possibly go wrong?

I love all the people complaining that their personal favorite is not on the list. None of my favorites are there, but since I was asked for my favorite that was on the list, I chose The Great Escape.

I like some of the others as well, but that one is my favorite. From the list.

-Your mother would be very upset if she saw you doing that Capt'n!
-I thought you were my mother....

Well, it ain't my favourite movie, but on that list.....

for sheer enjoyment, Star Wars is the best movies, 'cause I can see them again, and again, and again....

not to mention Monty Python.....

You left off the "Paris Hilton" video...
Seriously, the LOTR Trilogy is one of my favorites...

The Lord of the Rings set should have inlcluded all 3 films, as they're all part of the same story, but since it's a radio button thingy, I could only vote for one of them, so I picked Fellowship of the Ring. I actually liked all 3 of the films.

Any special reason why just those films were listed?
