it will be a painless death as you run out of oxygen.

You will have a slight head ache at first, followed by a sense of euphoria.

then you will sleep.

then you will die.

OR you can pull your pistol from your locked bunkside table, load the thing up and each man may shoot himself as he chooses.

could you imagine being the last man? what a lonely dreadful feeling it would be to realize your there 80m under the sea, in a boat that will never surface again, with your friends laying dead all around you and its your turn to commit suicide.

of course... 80 meters of water... thats like 260 feet. would the escape lungs be effective at such a depth.

talk about a procedure! flood the entire U-boat and then open the hatches and each man ascends slowly to the top.

Yikes! I think at that point I'd just bang the contact detonator of one of the torpedoes with a hammer. Real quick and painless.

*Loads Walther P38*
*Puts P38 in mouth*
*Fires*

That's how I'd go if I was in that situation. I might set charges to blow the sub open, first, to avoid having the Allies try to raise a perfect U-boat.

i would have the chief engineer find a way to rig all of the batteries to the torpedoes so that they will all run on board the boat.

set magnetic fuses, and get the little props turning, once the torpedoes think they have passed about 300 meters travel time... and hopefully when that pinging destroyer is passing overhead:

"OPEN WIDE MOTHER F-"KABOOOM!

Welcome aboard!

Like most here I say stay out of Der Kanal from now on. There is a reason it's commonly known as the English Channel. The Royal Navy owns the place lock, stock and barrel.

I'd move the scuttling charges to the torpedo rooms and battery wells and set 'em off so the Brits can't salvage anything. And point your bared hindquarters at the surface imagining they can be seen. It's about all that's left.

Consider it a lesson learned. The Channel can be run. It is also in my view an unacceptable risk. The run north of Scotland has deeper water, decent merchant traffic, and far fewer things that only want to bring about your untimely demise.

Anyway, after you start a new career...

Good luck, and good Hunting.
