Are you being serious? Expect a big fat NO on that. HOwever, you might get lucky, but your chances are 100 to 1 that you will be SOL.

Well I recently bought myself a new laptop, or rather it was bought for me, and I had a choice of XP pro, the latest version of XP like... or Vista, in either premium or Ultimate versions....

I chose XP.

YES! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON'T UPGRADE TO IT.

You shall not be warned... again...
Do you have it? Have you tried it? Or are you just saying that?
Got a free version for purchasing a Gateway. Installed it, and hated it. Rejected almost everything I'd played on XP, about 60% of which had no tweaking solution. I threw it out (hey, it was free) and went back to my beloved XP.

Of course. Five seconds of googling

That's cool. Bought time they did something. No one else releases drivers for anything else. I've hit my head against the wall 100+ times. I probably need to go to the mental hospital over XP64, mainly because my division GM - I put him on it and 'nothing' has drivers after I assured him that everything would work! Hahahahah! Just put my head in a bin of sand from that! I want to be an osterich!

Anyway, I gave him a new laptop loaded with XP Pro. All is well now. I no longer want to jump out a window!

Anyway, I took his old laptop for myself. Its got an x700 in it, and I put some decent RAM in, and now I have another Vista test bed (+ I added Dangerous Waters to it, and that workd OK so far of the 10 min I spent on a laptop with it). I've solved most of my headaces with VPN and the like in Vista. I can get most things to work right well, but it is such a bloat! Xp does things 5 to 10 times faster. I think Vista either runs up against bloat for the same task, or hits a DRM barrier. I still hate Vista.

I officially name Vista the ME II of Windows operating systems! Basically - wait till Windows 11 comes out. It should be what Vista was supposed to be.

Well i reverted to a dual install, after only having Vista on, realising some games just wont play no matter what tweak/hack you try to do. So did a whole reformat and installed WinXP Pro on C: drive, with Vista on D:. I like vista, but i also need XP for the time being.

Yep. Thats what I keep saying all the time.

Moreover you can always have multiple os installations on exchangeable racks.

how to decide

does your old setup work?

yes: why change anything at all??? No sense in it!
no: what makes you think it will work after an update?
