I have noticed happy vibrations since the news that Silent Hunter 4:Wovles of the pacific has gone gold, so would someone be so kind and explain to me what it really means this "gone gold" thing....

Usually it means the developers are finished the code and have sent a master copy to the publishers. The CD used to deliver it at one time was gold-colored, hence the term "gone gold".

The publisher now makes copies and boxes it up with manuals, etc. and distributes it to the retail stores.

Just got home from the fire station saw it went GOLD,Great have already ordered my copy.
If while your waiting grab a copy of GunFish:A Fleet Submarine Goes To War by Claulde M.Pearson a novel which I can't put down.There is alot of tech info in the novel also.
