I'm just lost. You have to play the way you like, but I still fail to understand how not playing while the computer runs is playing at 1x, or how it's any different.

But sometimes I'm just slow to pick these things up.

It's because we're not actually on the sub itself. But if we were we could be sitting aound staring at the woodwork, contemplating the crabs in our groin, watching the fly on Doenitz's picture, watching the mold grow, listening to the tip-tap-tip of water trickling into the bilge, hearing the wind whine through the net guard, and other fun stuff.

Since we don't have the boredom factor of dealing with sitting around peeling lemons everyday we use this way to model yet another immersion factor.

Which got me to thinking. (An unusual concept for me, I admit) Do flight sim gamers have this same argument over 1x and TC? Just wonderin'.

Oh yes we do use of autopilot and time compression (although it's usually limited to 2x and 4x) has been filling many pages in flight sim forums...

One thing that continually tickles me is those gamers who don't play at 1x (which is fine) often use words like "crazy, loon, goof, weirdo, nut, bonehead, etc" when discussing those of us who do.

And my response is always, "Yeah, and your point is....?" :rotfl:

Ah, that's good to know.... Yeah, I can see wars staring up over using the autopilot, that's for sure... :hmm:

At 1x play you can see things that you might miss using TC. It's a big world out there, don't miss it. The programers added a lot of scenery in the game, it would be a waste not to enjoy it.:hmm:

You should be greasing torpedos or playing cards with a bunch of dirty smelly men. Now, I could be mistaken on the reason some do 1x, but if it isn't for realism, than why? Whats wrong with cranking the TC up a bit to skip the seabirds and waves?

Bring on the flames.
one reason is when you tc you miss planes/ships/even convoys.. if your gonna tc all over the place might as well play PONG:rotfl:

It's true you miss a lot less contacts at a lower TC...

You also increase your chances of having more contacts within a shorter period of time using TC.

I don't think anybody really cares, we are just teasing.
In fact, I kinda respect and admire people that play x1TC. Too many people in this society zipping around, doing things at 100 mph. Not taking the time to feel the sunshine on their face, or in our case, the bow spray.
