Head for the mountains, freeze yours
elf in the snow, have someone dig you up and thaw you when the release date comes around. Just make sure you're not covered by an avalanche, and get buried too deep. You'll get thawed in 2546, where they have no computer games, and the only link to the past is a time phone which you must use to convince your past self not to freeze himself.
Or by then we have invented something simliar to the Star Trek hollow deck, and silent hunter XXVI is out... now you REALLY relive WW2. Oddly enough, harbors are once again empty.

You can still watch a low-res online version. It's quite good.

Frankly I am a bit troubled by the amount of damage caused by the torp. that hits the Kongo class BB. A BATTLESHIP is hit by a single torp. and it basically bursts into flame and sinks? And, the explosion sets fires all along the ship - even tho' later in the trailer we see that the hit was aft of the X turret. Doesn't look too accurate to me.

Let's hope that this was "jazzed up" for demo purposes.

Barkhorn.
That bothered me too, a single torpedo and the thing sinks almost instantly.

I don't think you could even sink a WWI-era battleship with a single torpedo. There's a reason why they put anti-torpedo bulges over those ship's vitals, along with protective bulkheads for the ammunition magazines and multiple watertight compartments. There's also a good reason why they didn't put a big tank full of explosive gasoline in the middle of the ship, and put the magazines inside the hull.

Anyway, I think the battle being recreated in this trailer is the Battle of Samar. At about 3:20 you can see the escort carrier St Lo exploding after being hit by a kamikaze.

I don't think we need worry about the ships being too easily sunk. Recall the E3 demo trailer for SHIII where the Nelson goes down with just one torpedo, while on high realism settings in the finished game she could take about 3 or 4 (the Kongo was sunk with 3 torpedos). So I'm sure the realism settings (sinking time/damage) were set lower for demonstration purposes.

I liked the way the wakes look; much better than SH3. I liked the helmsman turning completely around to answer an order. Everything looks good so far.

I think it looks pretty smart. I hope there is a switch to turn off the music! It was somewhat cheesy. All in all, I think we are on to something good. I also noticed men now in the conning tower. That was not there on one of the first small diary films. Also the wierd Amish bearded dude was gone or I might have missed him. That man looked like he should be hunting Moby Dick . I believe we are in for a real treat.

This bearded guy was on that sub because it had a special mission to accomplish. HQ had the plan to hunt down all (sperm) whales so that the Japanes would have to starve.:rotfl:

He could just be elsewhere at the time. No matter, I didn't mind him.
