No, changed mods folder name to MODS, and changed it in jsgme.ini too, jsgme still works, but the generator doesn't. Maybe it reads jsgme.ini to find the mods folder (and second jsgme.ini with mods list), but I did look at the generator exe file with hex editor and found "Mods" folder specified there, so I thought I was onto something, but not (it looks like).
It's either too long name of sh4 folder or some programming issue (but why it decided to manifest itself now and not before). What double quotation - " ,the one from one of the error messages - means, if anything, in delphi (cause it looks like it was written in delphi), maybe its some wrong usage of it in the code, I don't know And just in case: one more difference between my current sh4 installation and previous are mods used - TMO before (when report gen was working) and tmo+RSRD now (not working). But it probably doesnt matter in this case. |

Too bad. I doubt RSRD would matter.
We didn't use the stock campaign, added similar bases as RSRD does, and the stock special missions were not used, instead all special missions were 'new'. Post back if you figure yours out please. Luckily I never had any trouble even though I was always editing and changing mods. |

Am I the only one getting reports where aircraft all have the last letter of their name deleted?

AFAIK you may be. I've never seen that 'last letter drop' before. He programed the names of all stock aircraft, marus & warships - some with longer names, and may have included TMO extras the mighty 'D' added too.
Curious.... Last edited by aanker; 02-05-14 at 12:00 PM. |

Looks like it reads SaveData.clg and that ALL the entries are having the last letter removed.
1850 tons appears as 1850 ton Oh and I'm running stock v1.5 It also appears to ignore when you receive a new command. I started in the Porpoise then was transferred to the Drum, but when I run the program on the post First Patrol savegame it still says USS Porpoise.

... or, more likely, are you making a fresh save just before returning to base, maybe call it, "Last Save" then resume your patrol into port and End your patrol. You would then double click "Last Save" to try making your report using the tool. That might fix it.... I'm using Stock v1.5 for this example, except my roster includes hull numbers, so basically thee same conditions as yours: Report tool recognized 'new' command, from USS Pampanito (SS-383) to USS Skate (SS-305): Quote:
'Large Old Passenger Carrier' includes the " r " in "Carrier". Quote:
Lat 26° 10' N, Long 130° 27' E He removed the "'s" in "Precipitation " through the program so that is correct: Quote:
meters per second x (roughly) 2 = mph .... and: (roughly) 0.5 meters per second = 1 knot.... to help you decide what to wear on deck.... lol See if a fresh "Last Save" helps because I'm stumped... Happy Hunting!

Do me a favor and shoot down a plane or two.
While ton may be correct, I don't see aircraft in your example, and I'd like to know what you get. I have been using fresh save games. I done some coding, and I wonder if the program is set to truncate the last letter to make tons ton as that's the last word of ship sinkings, and that planes weren't taken into account.

Hmmm.
Now every save game, even ones that had been OK (save for the aircraft names) are now FUBAR. All now come up with no sinkings and 0 torps fired etc. Game works perfectly, but the report generator does not. One final question, is it supposed to work with Career save games? That's what I've been using.

Yes, on patrol saves, not in port saves.
The report generator is in the folder where your saved game folders are which is correct. You've only used a text editor like notepad to open the *.clg files, not Word or Wordpad etc. Your clg file seems to be corrupted. You aren't adding previous patrols to it and keep a running total, which is possible to do... some people like to do this. To rule out the report generator, download a new copy. Here are 100's of successful reports: http://pacificthundercampaign62842.yuku.com/ Stock games, TMO ships are also listed, RFB installs too. |

I'll try it when I get a chance, but I will say that I have only read the CLG files, not saved them. I did so with notepad+
As far as corrupt files go, as I said they load in game fine. One thing that did change was that I activated a mod that adds a nomograph to the nav map, so menu_1024_768.INI was changed, but I would not expect the report generator to even look at that file.

I also prefer to use a text editor called NoteTab Pro which is a plain text editor (I set the font to Courier New 10 pt). If Notepad+ is a "rich text" editor, that may be the culprit. Ideally Notepad should be used, or a similar plain text editor so there are no hidden characters typically used in rich text editors. An astronomy program I use specified that any plain text font used to edit its files needed to be Courier New, Regular, 10pt - and I've always used that for text editing anything, however I'm unsure if that is important... On the website with patrol reports, I recall one member for sure sunk numerous aircraft and they were correctly listed in his reports. The aircraft were 'parked' for the night/day at a Jap base, and were on floats. The generator correctly listed & credited him for sinking them. I really wish I could help you, however I can't think of anything that would cause this behavior in the generated report. If you ever find out, please post the solution here to help someone else if they encounter this.

When he first made the tool I was mostly happy to just have the Lat and Long computerized to lessen the tedium of writing that down from screenshots of the logbook before we knew what files to look at and when. |

I think I've nailed it down.
What you called a "port save" has far fewer files the saves you make at sea. Among the files NOT in a port save is "savedata.CLG" The lines for aircraft destroyed and ships sunk is taken word for word from "savedata.clg" and the last letter is being stripped from them. I take it that you didn't code this little utility, and I assume the source code is unavailable?

No, however I helped test the alpha & beta versions on my install, others on their installs. There were a variety of different modded installs used & tested.
I almost never shot down planes, well there is the SHCE trick shot with the deck gun but that gets old, same in SH4. Attempting to be historically accurate, I always dived for aircraft. Everyone was begged to report errors, nobody reported any, and I didn't experience any. I can contact Kim & see if he is interested in 'fixing it'. I don't want to impose however I'll ask.... point him to this thread anyway. Typically I made a save just prior to ending my patrol and used that extra save for the report data. A simple Search & Replace can add the missing last letter if Kim isn't interested in revisiting the past. Think of all the info the report generator does conveniently gather and spit out, Date, Lat & Long, ship class sunk, torpedo data, weather data, orders, 'warnings', a pop up box for listing special missions. None of this was easily accessed before, especially those who didn't enjoy digging through files. Happy Hunting!
