Ok, after some trial and a good research on the net to find this damn file, my type IID goes faster than an Akula
![]() ![]() Thanks a lot for you help. Another question: some day ago I built a mission with the SHIII editor, with a lot of bad ennemies ships, and also some friendly U-boat. But these one seemed to be on holiday and let the DD sink them easily without firing a single torpedo or try to escape. Is it normal? |

If your referring to AI subs.....they can't fire torpedoes, only their deck gun.
Did you assign them a speed and way points in the mission? |

Yep, no waypoint because I put them very close to the destroyer, and I thought they would attack automatically. Insteed of that, no evolution and no escape when depthcharged. Now, I know, I have to become the Rambo of the sea

Hi All
I have just dusted off SH3 and installed the excellent GWX Grey Wolves mod. Love all the changes but I do miss having the auto ship ID, now its just a grey shape until you get close enough to id the ship which isnt easy at night, specially in in a convoy. I realise its not in keeping with realisism but does anyone know how to change it back to auto ship ID? Cheers everyone ![]() |

Try installing OLC Gold. It brings it back but with a different yet beautiful gui.

Hello people.
I haven't been around for I don't know how long; and after checking my old discs the most up to date GWX I have is 1.3. I promised myself I was just going to run vanilla, but after visiting here again I'm going to go with the latest version of GWX ![]() I seem to remember a stability problem when saving games before - is that still around? i don't have the playing time I used to, so there's going to be lots of saving done. And as well as GWX and Commander, is there any new content that's pretty necessary? With that in mind, my computer isn't too great (see my signature below). Thanks for any help. And my continued appreciation for the people behind this mod who give up their time.

You need the new CMDR;
Yor rig should run GWX 3.0; To be on the safe side, however, burn your present SHIII folder to DVD and you can restore it to your present setup in a few minutes if you don't like the new setup.

Nerazzurri, you can't go wrong with GWX 3.0, in my humble opinion. It is the mod of choice for my career and in multiplayer.
Your vid card is in doubt. It can run the game with GWX 3.0 installed, but you may need to crank some settings down a bit to get the best performance. I stress the word "may" because the Grey Wolves have taken pains to make sure the mod will run surprisingly well on older hardware. I know that GWX 2.0 ran decently on my old nVidia FX 5200 128MB card, but I had to turn off High Quality Textures, Synchronize, and set Particles to 50 in the game's Video Options, then I had to adjust my video card's settings where anti-aliasing was 2x, anisotropic filtering was 4x, and mip-map filtering was set to "performance". Even so, large explosions, like a tanker going up in flames, would cause some lag when viewing it. I do not believe you'll be able to use the GWX 16km Atmosphere mod, though. You can try it but doubling the visual (and thus the rendering) range will probably bring your vid card to a struggling stutter. I hope you will check out the consolidated and reorganized Silent Hunter Multiplayer section here at the Radioroom. As good as career mode is, finding the right bunch of fellows to sail with in multiplayer really gives you the feel of a true wolfpack. Wherever you choose to play, I highly recommend either bigboywooly's GWX 3.0 Online Gaming Mod or my own CSP Online Mod v1.0 for GWX 3.0. Both drastically reduce load times for multiplayer games to about one minute or less. Welcome back to the Ubootwaffe! ![]()

Thank you, to both of you.
Graf, I realise that my GPU is the weak point in my system, I just can't do much better with an AGP slot. Thanks for the setting suggestions. From memory, I think the 16k environment mod was around the last time I was here, and I just didn't bother trying it, because of my GPU; so nothing's changed I'm afraid. Regarding online play - I just don't have the time; I snatch half an hour here and an hour there. I enjoyed TripleA (pbem), but I don't even do that anymore, because although I can make a few moves one day I might not make another move for three or four days, and I just don't like messing people around. One question remains - stability? Is GWX quite stable? because I seem to remember some issues before; maybe I'm wrong. Again, thanks for the help people.
