Thanks to all concerned for some great enhancements to the game. And a BIG thanks to LV for all your hard work and obvious enthusiasm. Nice one mate.

Just one small request though if I may? When publishing a new mod would you clarify whether any of the previous mods need to be removed via JSGME or whether it's OK just to intall over the top and overwrite the relevant files as per the warning in JSGME?

Many thanks,

WB.
Thanks for the advise never thought of it to tell the truth with all going on. I will work on it today.

Default There is actualy a way to get the sub's to do that

Leo,do you think it might be possible to have the boats react a lot more in the heavy sea;s.At the moment my Tambour is pitching and rolling fine in 13m winds/sea but for some reason the Balao seems fairly much rock steady in the same sea state..Maybe the Balao is a much more stable sub.Ever since i started to play SH4,i have always wished the subs would pitch and roll a lot more than they do and if this could be done,i for one would be very grateful.

Thanks again everyone.

Hector.
Without changing the environment and it is by lowering the sub's surface depth by 1ft in the file that handles that. Go to Submarine/Balao and in that file the CFG file.

What line need's to be changed is this: SurfaceDepth=4.5;meters Change the higlighted value to 4.2 and then save the file.

The best way to do this is set the changes up as a mod you can enable using JSGME so you do not damage the original game file's. Seeing all you need is the CFG files for the sub's it is a very small mod add on.

Default Galanti can you post a screen shot for me please?!

I believe I've done everything right as far as installation goes, but regardless of time of day, my fires are various shades of orange, and smoke is always a grayish-brown, with no black. Is is how it's supposed to look? I mean no criticism, I'm just wondering if something's amiss. The fire animation is not blocky or pixelated as other skippers have posted, just the colours seem flat.

I wiped out my saves folder, yadda yadda, no extra copies of materials.dat and all that.
Without seeing what your talking about I will have to wait till I see it in my own game. So a pic would be helpfull.

But I am sure if the Dev's had more time to make the game than they did it would have all been there and looking even better. For they have a love of the game as much as we do or they wouldn't have tryed to make a new one after SHIII.

At least they left the game open for further work and development for us.

Could not have been said better! Not often if at all do you find developers dropping in on a forum like this and adding what they know about the game they helped create. Developers who lurk about taking notes on what needs fixing etc. Some people loose sight of that fact the we have two such developers who come by and answer questions. You know, being part of the community. I'm suprised they do after the flogging 6 months ago. Now I go sail into the sunset looking for smoke on the horizon.

The reason why I do not post this as a mod add on is because people are using several other mod's that adjust these files so would rather you guys did it to your own game files so as not to interfear with other mod choices you have made. So I just posted the info for a manual change instead.

Default Sorry guys .... I'm a little bit confused. A question Leo ...

I have ROW loaded from 9-25 ... I added two new files earlier this week for oil and smoke that are no longer posted at the bottom in your first post (sorry ... I'm at work and don't have there names). I am not running TM or NSM. So .... I just activate these two new files with JSGME and I'm good to go right?

ROW_SpecialEffects_W_ClassicNSM_Zones

ROW_SpecialEffects_W_LightNSM_Zones

Again, apologies for these basic questions ... the pizza and space diapers must be going to my head?!?!

Either the Classic or the light not both.

But to get the full effect's of those zone's files you need the ship files from Wernersobe's Natural sinking machanics that match the zone's file you want to use.

So I would download his mod first and decied on which one you want the Classic or the light VS then install it. Then choose the matching download from this and install it after his.

Yes I did away with the other downloads that were up because these 2 new ones superceed them.

Leo been road testing the mod for a while now with my new graphics card. Most of the problems I encountered seem to have been fixed, think my old card was struggling with some of the effects. I noticed some of the changes in the new files.

The fire looks spot on not to blobby or blotchy like stock but not too sparse either just right.

Im getting a reflection from burning oil smoke now I wasn't before but it does flicker a bit.

the image looks a lot more stable than before though there is still a little flickering and distortion around the edge of the screen in some views, but it is minimal.

Did you alter the floaters in the water at all? They seem a lot more mobile than before looks better.

I noticed the smoke is darker looks better. But it seems to have gone a bit smaller again. In the second version of the particles dat it looked to be bigger but now its decreased in size again and you know how I like big smoke! lol!

All in all Leo this mod gets better and better. The colour of the sea on a clear day is stunning with the sunlight glinting off the waves, absolutely beautiful! I think the environmental colours etc are spot on now, don't think they coukld get any better or realistic. With graphics like these I'd be happy just sailing around the Pacific, nevermind hunting Marus!

I try to find out what needs to be done or adjusted to make anything happen that work's with mod's I do so that is how I knew about adjusting the sub's surface hight. It was also a question asked in the [WIP] thread for this mod from The General if I remember right.

If I actualy made the waves more than they are other objects in the game start to have problems so this is the quickest and easiest fix for that effect.

I believe Kriller2 is working on that for a nice change and surprise if he can pull it off and I am sure he can.

As to the smoke effect I am working on a higher end vs of it for people with better PC's and card's so it is comming. Just time consuming testing then changes then testing then changes if you know what I mean?!
