Some of the recipes have gotten a lot more complicated. Solar Panels look harder to make now.

Also there's tonnes of new ores that I have no clue what they're used for.

Think some of the stuff is due to gregtech. Mindcrack pack might have it,
it basically makes things harder to make.

Yes, to get Electric wrench I need steel, to make steel I need a blast furnace, for that I need to go to the nether and get me magmacream/blazepowder and netherbrick. Keep dying on the way to the netherfortress, loosing the way, and getting Blazed.

Most of the new ores I think are still waiting for other mods to be implemented. Which is annoying as I have chests full of useless ore.

@Pisces Try tackling the Blazes with a Nano Suit. Will need a few tries to get all the blaze rods you need, as their fire will quickly deplete the suits energy.

I really dont see a need for the gregtech stuff, hence I use the DW20 pack that doesnt have it.

That's a bit like putting the cart before the horse. Or chicken and egg prioritizing. I only have a geothermal and macerator up and running upto now. Why couldn't they just leave it at refined iron.

I'm trying a direwolf mod pack world now. Finding lots of Magic-related items that I don't know what to do with.

I'm tempted to try editing together a pack of just the mods I want. (Basically the FTB pack without Gregtech at the moment)

I see the Quarry can take much more MJ than the 12 or so it used to.
Try powering it with a redstone energy cell and switch the output to 100MJ.

I guess I know which pack you'll be hoping the server is running...

The Mindcrack pack seems to be pretty stable from what I've seen watching their videos.

I'd go ahead and disable the portal gun mod, the portals tend to lag. Besides,
they are so damn expensive at least in the DW20 pack that none of us will ever
have one, anywho.

Gregtech is a matter of taste, lots of recipes are more expensive with it enabled,
but it also adds a hefty bunch of powerful end game machines.

XyCraft imho can be disabled, don't really see a point of having it.

ExtraBiomesXL can cause lag on less powerful PCs, though Optifine seems
to help quite a bit.

The rest I'd keep, plenty of stuff to do.

Oh and check the video about them new Ender chests to know how they work:

How one can disable mods server side? I have no idea.

EDIT: Actually, the PortalGun mod has other goodies in it. Like sentry turrets and stuff.

There may-or-may-not-be-but-most-definitely-is a server running the FTB Direwolf pack. It's set to creative and whatnot and is strictly temporary to see what we want to keep in, and how the server hardware handles the strain. Mainly that last bit, actual mods to be used depends on you lot and is up in the air for the most part.

Weren't we keeping the IP a secret to keep the trolls out?
