Default For those with flat sun problems...

I think i may have found the reason!! I run windows vista and it appears that SH3 which runs at 1024x768 resolution is not compatible and causes the flat sun problem! So i downloaded the res fix found at danlisa's filefront page and installed the 2 files d3d9.cfg and d3d9.dll and set my resolution to resX=1280 resY=1024 and my problem was solved! May be worth others trying this!

the link to res fix is:

http://files.filefront.com/SH3+XPSP2.../fileinfo.html

hope this is of some help!!

This Flat sun thingie is really a mystery! Sometimes it's the drivers and sometimes the res. Anyway!

Phil, just being a bit curious. What is the wave speed you use in this mod!?

In EnvData = 0,1

In EnvSim, Waves,
for 0m/s = 1,0
for 4m/s = 0,9
for 8m/s = 0,8
for 12m/s = 0,7

why?

Nothing to do with your cool mod, I was just wondering.
Lately - and I'm gonna kick myself later for this - I started to look into things more thoroughly.
After successfully modding my personal GUI mix, I feel more ballsy approaching SH3 inner workings!

For the next version the reflection will be larger, it's too thin right now. And it will also get weaker on the edges, instead of finishing sharp.

But still it's a highway.

And a lot better of having half sea reflections, I believe.

I'm in need of suggestions

The Issue - I notice that if I enable Thompsen's Water Fix 3.3 , my frame rate drops to about 20 for the bridge view and external views ( with burning ships ). I like to watch my victom crash and burn, if i get a chance. Without this mod my frame rates jump up to the 30s near 40. Other views such as the interier, map, binoculers, parascope, UZO and bridge view without burning ships on the water are in the 40s,50s and greater, with or without this mod enabled. I love this mod and would love to use it. I've done a google search on " How To Increase Your Frame Rates " and didn't find a whole lot . I now restart my computer before playing and turn off Nortons Anti-Virus. Ive also stopped alot of start-ups via MS Config. I haven't gotten into Services yet ( maybe I need to ). I also have the AA at 2x, AF at 2x, Supersampling, neg lod bias to clamp, Tex Filtering to HQ, Triple Buffering to on and Vertical Sync to forced on via the nVidia controll panel.

Computer Specs
  1. CPU - AMD SEMPRON 3400+
  2. RAM - 2048 mb ddr2 / PC3200 ( single Stick )
  3. GPU - nVidia 7600gt / 500mb ddr / AGP 8x ( 178.24 drivers )
  4. Sound - Sound Blaster Audigy2
  5. Monitor - ViewSonic2535 / 22" Widescreen / 2ms
Mods
  1. GWX 2.1
  2. Aotd-AA ......
  3. GWX English Nav Map .......
  4. GWX No Medals
  5. GWX Open Hatch
  6. GWX VII41C Player Sub
  7. GWX 2.0 Gray tails
  8. Lifeboats & Debris v 3b
  9. Rowers for Lifeboats & Debris v 3b
  10. LRT v2.02 Final
  11. LRT v2.02 Compatability
  12. Medium and Lite DC Shakes Patch
  13. OLCE 2
  14. OLCE2 Adj GWX 2.1 Crew Skins
  15. OLCE2 Adj GWX 2.1 Enhanced Damage Effects
  16. OLCE2 Fixed Ships Reflections
  17. Thomsen's sound Pk 3.0
  18. PT Sound Pk 3.1
  19. PT Sound Pk 3.2
  20. Torpedo Damage Final 2.0
  21. Water Stream For U-Boats v4
  22. Thomsen's Water 3.3
In Closing, if anyone can offer suggestions on increasing my frame rates or can spot a bottle neck in my system that I don't see, feel free to suggest Oh yea, one more thing. My image on my montor is absolutly postcard perfect. Clear and crisp !

Read the first post of this thread and you'll understand why this mod kills your frame rate.

Now, I can see two things for you to do:

1. Disable your AA and AF. Those two makes the graphics look better, but they are true fps killers.

2. Download Silent 3ditor. Open my mod's folder, inside there's a file named SCENE.DAT. Open the file with Silent 3ditor. The left panel shows a lot of nodes, find a node named "EnvData". Expand this node, and on the right panel look for a line named "LODFACTOR", it's one of the last lines. The value must be 16. Change it to 4. Save the file, re-enable my mod and test. Your fps should go up to around 30-40.

sorry for the delay , raken leaves

I did all the suggestions you made to me , and it only helped a tad . But it did help enough for me to live with . But I still was thinking , with my computer specs there is a bottle neck somewhere . My specs aren't the greatest but there not that bad either . Now put that thought on hold for a minute . Today I got my MAXIMUM PC mag. and there was an artical about PC preformances . I was reading about PAGE FILE management and how to get more preformance by adjustments . They suggested to a custom setting of " the amount of RAM x 2 " ( 2048 x 2 = About 5000mb's in my case ) . I tried it . Oh My God !!! Frame rates in the 40's & low 50's , external view , with 3 burning ships ! When I built this rig , I never messed with the PAGE FILE sizes . I let Windows manage it ( 2048mb's of RAM x .5 ) was about what I was working with . Do you or does anybody elce , have a rules of thumb regarding PAGE FILE sizes . Oh yea AF at 4x and AA at 4x . Thank You , Jerry
